NATURAL SCIENCE IN AN AGE OF PLANETARY CHANGE

➡️The ALLATRA Global Research Center announces the release of the first issue of its quarterly review. The publication presents work in the natural sciences to a professional and public readership while preserving scientific accuracy, and distinguishes consistently between conclusions supported by the available evidence and questions that remain open.

The first issue covers:
• micro- and nanoplastics as a matter of human exposure and health, from the placenta to the nervous system;
• methods for detecting particles smaller than one hundred nanometres;

Bolivian Catholic University Hosts Latin American Premiere of ALLATRA’s Documentary Nanoplastics. Threat to Life

➡️The Latin American premiere of the documentary Nanoplastics. Threat to Life, produced by the ALLATRA Global Research Center, took place at the Bolivian Catholic University ‘San Pablo’ in La Paz.

🟢The screening brought together representatives from academia, government institutions, research centers, and non-profit organizations. Participants discussed scientific data on the potential impacts of micro- and nanoplastics on human health, ecosystems, and climate processes, emphasizing the need for further research, scientific communication, and international collaboration.

Panelists included experts in exact and engineering sciences, water resources, child neurodevelopment, and education, as well as representatives from Bolivian government agencies.

✔️ The premiere served as a new platform for scientific dialogue in Bolivia and continued the international screening tour of the film, which has already received recognition at film festivals worldwide.

ALLATRA’s work has received recognition from international organizations, institutions, and film festivals.

Among the recognitions and engagements:

• In December 2024, Pope Francis granted ALLATRA an Apostolic Blessing in support of its work for environmental protection and the preservation of creation. In July 2025, Pope Leo XIV granted an Apostolic Blessing to ALLATRA President Maryna Ovtsynova and ALLATRA volunteers.

• The Vice Ministry of Civil Defense of Bolivia issued an official letter of appreciation recognizing ALLATRA’s contribution to a high-level seminar and to strengthening technical capacity.

• At the Assisi Pax International Assembly, ALLATRA representatives received the jubilee medal “In Service of Peace,” commemorating the 30th anniversary of Assisi Pax International.

• ALLATRA’s documentary “Nanoplastics. Threat to Life” received awards at several international film festivals, including the Mannheim Arts and Film Festival, Latitude Film Awards, London Independent Film Awards, Titan International Film Festival, and Nature Without Borders International Film Festival.

• In September 2024, ALLATRA was invited to meet with representatives of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, where it presented an analytical report on anti-cult organizations and their impact on religious freedom and civil society.

A record 4.7 earthquake hit the Campi Flegrei caldera near Pozzuoli—injuring at least 26 people, forcing evacuations, and triggering power and transport disruptions across the Naples area. It lands in the middle of a week marked by earthquakes, drought, floods, and violent storms on multiple continents.

🔹 July 31, 7:46 p.m. local time: a magnitude 4.7 quake struck near Pozzuoli at about 1.9 miles depth—the strongest since continuous instrumental monitoring began in the caldera area.
🔹 Pozzuoli damage: plaster fell from facades, cracks formed, doors warped; several non-residential buildings partially or completely collapsed, and more than 300 residents were evacuated after inspections.
📌 A dangerous aftermath: tuff slopes collapsed, sending large rock blocks onto roads and parked vehicles—crushing several cars; a married couple inside one vehicle survived.
🔹 Cascading disruptions: the Port of Pozzuoli temporarily suspended operations after deep cracks appeared on access roads; more than 40 daily ferry and high-speed vessel services to Ischia and Procida were canceled.
🔹 Power and transit impacts: high-voltage line equipment was damaged in Agnano, causing outages affecting about 100,000 customers; some railway, metro, and high-speed rail services in Naples were temporarily suspended.
✅ The wider July 27–August 2, 2026 picture: a 7.1 earthquake in Kumamoto Prefecture (Japan), historic drought driving the Rhine and Danube to critically low levels and disrupting nuclear power plant operations in Romania and Hungary, abnormal rainfall and an unprecedented summer flood in Tyumen Oblast (Russia), and a Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) tornado with winds up to 300 km/h.
