A number of Baringo County MPs have expressed concern over the rapid rise in popularity of incoming senator Tochim, especially among the youth. His growing support base is attributed to his honest rhetoric, soft-spoken demeanor, and visible commitment to transforming Baringo.
Tochim’s rising influence has sparked political tension ahead of the upcoming by-election, with reports indicating that some leaders are lobbying President William Ruto to decide who should be awarded a direct UDA ticket to face off with the KANU candidate, Gideon Moi.
Over the past six months, Tochim has visited nearly 700 polling centers, mobilizing support on his own. His grassroots efforts have unsettled competitors, with some reportedly considering dropping out of the race and joining his camp as the election date nears.
