I Married My Orphanage Friend – After Our Wedding, a Stranger Changed Our Lives Forever

I married the man I grew up with at the orphanage – the morning after our wedding, a stranger knocked and turned our lives upside down.

I married the man I grew up with in an orphanage β€” the morning after our wedding, a stranger knocked on the door and said, "There's something you don't know about your husband."

I'm 28 (F), and I grew up in an orphanage.

By the time I was eight, I had already lived with several foster families, and every single one of them eventually abandoned me.

So when I was moved to yet another orphanage, that's where I met Anthony.

He was nine years old and used a wheelchair because of a hereditary spinal condition. Most of the children avoided him, uncertain how to act around him.

I didn't.

We became inseparable. Anthony was intelligent, funny, and kind, and over time, he became my best friend.

Neither of us was ever adopted, so we grew up side by side, knowing we were all we had.

When we left the orphanage as adults, we stayed together. Our friendship slowly evolved into something more, and eventually, we fell in love.

We enrolled in campus, worked part-time, and learned how to save every Shilling. We rented a small bedsitter, filled it with second-hand furniture, and slowly built our life together from scratch.

After college, Anthony proposed to me, and a few years later, we got married.

The wedding was small β€” just close friends β€” but to me, it was perfect.

The next morning, there was a loud knock on the door of our house.

Anthony was still asleep, so I opened it β€” and stiffened.

A man I didn't identify was standing there. He was wearing a coat, his hair neatly combed.

He cleared his throat and said:

"Good afternoon. I know we don't know each other, but I need to tell you the truth about your husband. I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR HIM FOR A LONG TIME."

My chest constricted.

He handed me an envelope and said:

"There's something you don't know about your husband. YOU NEED TO READ THE LETTER INSIDE THIS ENVELOPE, AND YOU'LL UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING." ⬇️

A 35-year-old woman, Irene Kui, died on the spot after being hit by a stone from a building under construction.

She was inside a salon when the stone fell from the fourth floor, breaking through the roof and ceiling before striking her.

She was rushed to ICU and fought for six days.

Sadly, she did not survive.

She leaves behind a husband, three children, and grieving parents.

A painful reminder about safety around construction sites πŸ˜”
