A chief from Wajir East Constituency and a Huduma Centre official were on Friday arraigned at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court over alleged tampering with national identity records.
Chief Abdullahi Abdi Sheikh is accused of falsifying his date of birth, altering it from 1997 to 1987, and fraudulently obtaining a birth entry number despite already possessing a valid birth certificate.
His co-accused, Veronica Njenga, a senior clerical officer at Nairobi City Square Huduma Centre, is charged with unlawfully modifying Sheikhβs identity details and abuse of office under the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act.
Presiding Magistrate Isabella Barasa granted them bond of Ksh 1.5 million or a cash bail alternative of Ksh 300,000, also ordering them to surrender their passports.
The case is set for mention next week for pre-trial directions.
