THE PEACE OF GOD THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING
Text: Philippians 4:7 (NKJV)
"And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Introduction
We live in a world filled with uncertainty, fear, anxiety, and many challenges. People seek peace through wealth, relationships, success, and possessions, yet true peace cannot be found in earthly things. The peace that satisfies the human heart comes only from God through Jesus Christ.
The Apostle Paul wrote these words while in prison. Although physically confined, he experienced a peace that no prison could take away. This teaches us that God's peace is not determined by our circumstances but by His presence.
1. God's Peace Is Different from the World's Peace
Jesus said in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you... Let not your heart be troubled."
The world's peace depends on favorable circumstances. God's peace remains even during trials.
Characteristics of God's peace:
It remains during difficulties.
It gives strength in weakness.
It produces confidence instead of fear.
It enables us to trust God's plan.
Lesson: Your circumstances may change, but God's peace remains constant.
2. God's Peace Surpasses Human Understanding
Paul says, "The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding..."
This means God's peace cannot always be explained by human logic.
You may have peace while waiting for a breakthrough.
You may have peace while facing sickness.
You may have peace after experiencing loss.
You may have peace even when others expect you to be overwhelmed.
That peace comes from knowing that God is in control.
Lesson: Faith allows us to rest in God's promises even when we do not understand His timing.
3. God's Peace Guards Our Hearts and Minds
The word "guard" is a military term, describing soldiers protecting a city.
God's peace protects us from:
Fear
Anxiety
Discouragement
Despair
Doubt
When our hearts and minds are guarded by Christ, we are able to stand firm regardless of what comes our way.
Lesson: God's peace is a spiritual shield over the believer.
4. God's Peace Comes Through Christ Jesus
Paul concludes, "...through Christ Jesus."
Real peace is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
To experience His peace:
Trust Him completely.
Pray instead of worrying (Philippians 4:6).
Fill your mind with God's Word.
Walk in obedience.
Cast your burdens upon Him.
Without Christ there may be temporary relief, but lasting peace is found only in Him.
Lesson: The closer you walk with Christ, the deeper your peace becomes.
5. Be a Carrier of God's Peace
Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers." (Matthew 5:9)
As believers, we should bring peace wherever we go:
In our families.
In our workplaces.
In our churches.
In our communities.
A peaceful heart becomes a testimony of God's transforming power.
Conclusion
Philippians 4:7 teaches us four powerful truths:
God's peace is different from the world's peace.
It surpasses human understanding.
It guards our hearts and minds.
It is found only through Christ Jesus.
Whatever challenge you are facing today, remember that God's peace is greater than your fear, stronger than your trials, and sufficient for every situation.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the peace that comes through Jesus Christ. When fear and anxiety surround us, help us to trust You completely. Guard our hearts and minds with Your perfect peace, strengthen our faith, and make us instruments of peace wherever we go. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

THE POWER OF THANKSGIVING

Text: 1 Chronicles 16:34 (NKJV)

"Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever."

Introduction

Thanksgiving is one of the highest forms of worship. It is more than saying "thank You"; it is recognizing God's goodness, faithfulness, and mercy in every season of life. Whether we are on the mountain or in the valley, God's nature does not change. He remains good, and His mercy never comes to an end.

King David declared this truth when the Ark of the Covenant was brought to Jerusalem. The nation rejoiced because they recognized that every victory, blessing, and opportunity came from God.

Today, we are reminded that thanksgiving is not based on circumstances—it is based on the unchanging character of God.

1. Give Thanks Because God Is Good

"Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!"

God's goodness is not measured by our circumstances. He is good by His very nature.

His goodness is seen in:

- The gift of salvation.
- His daily provision.
- His protection.
- His guidance.
- His unfailing promises.

Even when we do not understand His ways, we can trust His heart because He is always good.

Lesson: Praise God not only for what He has done, but for who He is.

2. God's Mercy Never Runs Out

"For His mercy endures forever."

Mercy is God's compassion toward those who do not deserve it.

Every day we experience His mercy:

- We are forgiven when we repent.
- We are sustained in difficult times.
- We are given another opportunity to serve Him.
- We receive grace to overcome life's challenges.

Lamentations 3:22–23 reminds us that His mercies are new every morning.

Lesson: If God's mercy has kept you this far, it will carry you into your future.

3. Thanksgiving Unlocks God's Blessings

A thankful heart attracts God's presence.

When we thank God:

- Our faith grows.
- Our perspective changes.
- We overcome complaining.
- We experience peace and joy.

Paul teaches in Philippians 4:6–7 that thanksgiving accompanies prayer and leads to the peace of God.

Lesson: Complaining magnifies problems, but thanksgiving magnifies God.

4. Thanksgiving Should Be a Lifestyle

David did not say, "Give thanks only when everything is perfect." He called God's people to thank Him continually.

As believers we should thank God:

- In times of abundance.
- In seasons of waiting.
- During trials.
- After victories.
- Every day of our lives.

A grateful believer reflects spiritual maturity and trust in God's sovereignty.

Lesson: Make thanksgiving your daily habit, not your occasional response.

5. Let Your Thanksgiving Inspire Others

When you testify about God's goodness, you strengthen the faith of those around you.

Your gratitude:

- Encourages the discouraged.
- Glorifies God.
- Builds the faith of the Church.
- Points unbelievers to Christ.

A life filled with thanksgiving becomes a living testimony of God's faithfulness.

Conclusion

1 Chronicles 16:34 gives us three lasting truths:

1. God is always good.
2. His mercy endures forever.
3. Therefore, we should continually give Him thanks.

No matter what season you are in today, remember that God's goodness has not changed, and His mercy has not been exhausted. Let every breath become an offering of thanksgiving to the Lord.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You because You are good and Your mercy endures forever. Forgive us for the times we have complained instead of giving thanks. Fill our hearts with gratitude, strengthen our faith, and help us to praise You in every season. May our lives bring glory to Your holy name. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

Sermon: With God All Things Are Possible
Text: Matthew 19:26 (NKJV)
"But Jesus looked at them and said to them, 'With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'”

Introduction
Life often presents us with situations that seem impossible. We face financial struggles, sickness, broken relationships, delayed dreams, and spiritual battles. Jesus reminds us that while human ability has limits, God's power has no limits. Where man reaches the end, God begins.

1. Human Ability Has Limits
"With men this is impossible..."
No matter how educated, wealthy, or influential we are, there are problems we cannot solve on our own. Human wisdom and strength are limited.
Key Lesson: Don't place your confidence solely in yourself or in other people.
Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6

2. God's Power Has No Limits
"...but with God all things are possible."
God specializes in doing what seems impossible. He created the universe, parted the Red Sea, raised the dead, and still performs miracles today.
Key Lesson: God's power is greater than your biggest challenge.
Scripture: Jeremiah 32:27

3. Faith Connects Us to God's Possibilities
Faith is believing God even when circumstances say otherwise. Every miracle in Scripture required someone to trust God.
Key Lesson: Stop focusing on the size of the problem and start focusing on the greatness of God.
Scripture: Hebrews 11:6

4. God's Timing Is Perfect
Sometimes God answers immediately, while at other times He allows us to wait. Waiting does not mean God has forgotten us. He is preparing us and working behind the scenes.
Key Lesson: Trust God's timing as much as His power.
Scripture: Isaiah 40:31

5. Live with Confidence in God's Promises
When you know that all things are possible with God, fear loses its power. You can face tomorrow with confidence because God is already there.
Key Lesson: Walk by faith, not by sight.
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:7

Conclusion
Jesus did not say that some things are possible with God—He said all things are possible. Whatever looks impossible today is an opportunity for God to reveal His glory. Surrender your situation to Him and trust Him completely.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You because nothing is impossible for You. We surrender every challenge, burden, and impossible situation into Your hands. Increase our faith, strengthen our hearts, and help us trust You completely. May Your power be revealed in our lives, and may all the glory return to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
