The Tanzanian government has directed all petrol stations to restrict fuel sales to boda bodas and tuk-tuks to just two litres each—a move aimed at limiting participation in the planned December 9, 2025 demonstrations.

Chunya District Police Commander Nestory John claimed that riders often transport protesters to rally points, which, he argued, contributes to unrest.

“We advise that ahead of December 9, boda boda riders and tuk-tuk operators should not be sold more than two litres of fuel,” he said.

Based on current prices from the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), two litres of petrol in Dar es Salaam cost 5,504 Tzs, roughly KSh289 ($2.2)

The police also warned fuel dealers against selling petrol along roadsides, saying officers will be on high alert and will arrest anyone involved.

The opposition had declared December 9 as a day for fresh protests against what they called a “sham election,” after President Samia Suluhu secured 98 percent of the vote.

The date also coincides with Independence Day celebrations, which the government canceled, saying previously allocated funds would instead support the repair of infrastructure damaged during previous unrest.

Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba urged citizens to reject violence and engage in peaceful dialogue.

“I urge my fellow Tanzanians to come together and discuss the issues affecting us. Let us not return to what we went through, because the consequences are irreparable,” he said.

The opposition has urged Tanzanians to gather on Independence Day to protest killings linked to last month’s disputed election.

I don't see any reason why Babu Owino should be isolated.

Babu wants to be governor in Nairobi, he can't hire youth to shout his name in Bondo.

I want young people to take over the leadership of ODM Party.

The only man who stood up to America and somehow survived 11 presidents who tried to delete him.

Cuba, 1950s, a playground for the rich. Casinos, mob money, corruption dripping from every handshake while the poor starved in the sugar fields.

In the middle of it all, a young lawyer with fire in his veins decides he's done watching. He grabs a rifle, grows the beard that'll become a symbol of resistance, and vanishes into the jungle with a handful of men.

He lands in Cuba with 80 men. Days later, most are dead. The few who survive retreat into the mountains and somehow keep fighting.

Villagers whisper his name. Farmers join. Soldiers switch sides. Then, three years later, the dictator is gone.

He rides into Havana, the capital of Cuba like a hero. Crowds cheer. Flags rise. He promises freedom, but fear takes its place. Critics vanish. Prisons fill. The revolution that freed them now owns them.

Then comes America. Invasions, assassinations, exploding ci**rs. 600 times they tried, and he survived them all. To some, he was a hero, to others, a tyrant. But one thing's clear, he outlasted them all.

His name was Fidel Castro - the man the late Raila Odinga named his first born son (Fidel Castro Odinga) after!
