FROM AMATEUR TO PRO STAGE

Kenya’s top amateur golfer, Michael Karanga of Kiambu Golf Club, has turned professional.

The 2024 KAGC Series champion rose to a career-best World Amateur Golf Ranking of 51 after a dominant season, and currently sits at 218.

He now joins the professional ranks, bringing form, pedigree, and big ambition.

Kenya golf has another exciting pro name.

CHAMPION! Maahir Patel Clinches the 4th NCBA Coast Junior Open Title

Maahir Patel of Sigona Golf Club delivered a masterclass in consistency to win the 4th NCBA Coast Junior Open at Nyali Golf & Country Club.

Patel posted rounds of 75, 76, and 77 for a winning total of 228 (+15), holding his nerve in a tightly contested field to secure top spot on the leaderboard.

Kingsley Afful finished a close second on +16 (229).

Justin Ngeera claimed third place on +18 (231)

Cherono Kipkorir of Royal Nairobi Golf Club finished fourth overall on +21 (234), earning top honors as the best girl in the tournament.

AMOS ODONGO WINS INAUGURAL NCBA MASAKU OPEN!

Amos Odongo emerged champion of the inaugural NCBA Masaku Open at Machakos Golf Club.

Odongo fired rounds of 72, 73, 73 to finish +2 (218), edging a tight leaderboard to seal a well-earned victory.

Eugine Wafula pushed hard to finish second at +3 (219), while Wesley Kibet settled for third on +4 (220).

The Rains Couldn’t Stop Us!

Despite the intermittent rain experienced in Mombasa throughout Sunday, the young golfers were undeterred.

They competed in the second round of the 4th NCBA Coast Junior Open at Nyali Golf and Country Club.

The overnight leaders, Maryam Mwakitawa of Sigona Golf Club and Kingsley Afful, were tied for first place (T1) at +3 after impressive rounds of 74 on Saturday but struggled in the second round.

Justin Ngeera of Vet Lab Sports Club climbed eight places by carding an impressive -2 (69), following his first-round score of 79, bringing his total to +6 (148).

Mwakitawa fell to eighth place, tied with three others, after a round of 87, while Afful dropped to second place with a round of 76.

A total of 33 players made the cut.

Who will win in the final round today, Monday?
