Dreams are made of this. Congratulations to our 3 Zebra-Canon Miraisha training graduates for being awarded scholarships to study at KCA University!!!
Zebra Productions is very proud of: Cliff Webster
Elizabeth Muthoni and Caleb Mwaura.
About 5 years ago, we set up our Zebra Production facilities at Nderi village in Kikuyu, Kiambu County. The vision was not to hire, produce and leave, but to settle and be integral part of this filming community.
Soon I noticed young, energetic youth who walked up and down the small township during office/work hours. “Why are they not in school or, working?” I wondered.
I called our Casting Direcor and challenged him to audition them for roles as ‘students’ in our then TV Series Salem. We were blow by their talents.
Fast forward on catch up sessions with a good friend, formerly of Canon EA, an idea was birthed. The Zebra Productions Kenya-Canon training programme partnership.
First Cohort was 15 young people from Nderi village and neighbourhood. After 3 months of training and internships, they graduated.
Today I was such a proud “Mum” as three of these graduates, Cliff, Elizabeth and Caleb were awarded study scholarships. Sponsored by Canon Miraisha Programme. This was to mark their 10th Anniversary!! Other recipients are from Cameroon and Nigeria!!
Their parents were there to witness. So were the Great Canon Facilitors that did a superb job with these kids!!
Thanks to Zebra Productions Producers team that supervised the training on the ground and also held the students and later grants as they did their on-job-training sessions.
Thanks to Canon Team, for the opportunity and the partnership! And for the excellent Coffee Table book that I was gifted!!
Did I say some of these 1st Cohort graduates are already Crew at Zebra Productions “Shanga” Tv Series??
