💛Big love to the incredible team behind this year’s NBO Film Festival! What an amazing celebration of storytelling and creativity right here at home!

Part of our LBx Africa team attended the Opening Night to support the premiere of How To Build A Library; a powerful documentary directed by Christopher King and Maia Lekow, produced by Circle and Square Productions.

A heartfelt congratulations to the filmmakers and everyone involved in bringing this story to life.

How To Build A Library is a must-watch film that sparks important conversations about our history as a country and highlights the incredible work Shiro and Angela are doing to reimagine what our public libraries can be. 💛

Highlights from Durban FilmMart 2025

🎬 Stero, the upcoming feature by Directors Tevin Kimathi and Millan Tarus and producer Juliana Kabua, was selected as one of 31 standout projects in the DFM Pitch & Finance Forum.

Juliana and Milan's pitch followed weeks of dedicated mentorship, and we’re excited to see Stero continue its development journey through platforms like this.

🎬 Chloe Genga, our Head of Impact and Distribution, attended with support from GIZ, using the opportunity to grow networks across the African impact and distribution landscape.

🎬 Sam Soko, LBx co-founder and Head of Studio, joined important conversations as panelist around impact-driven distribution and filmmaker mental health, contributing to sessions that continue to shape how we think about storytelling, care, and long-term sustainability in documentary practice.

Thank you to the Durban FilmMart SA team for creating space for these vital exchanges and to everyone who connected with us in Durban, we appreciate you.
