KISE LAUNCHES BASELINE REPORT TO STRENGTHEN INCLUSIVE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION IN KENYA

The Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) has hosted the launch of the Inclusive Early Childhood Education Longitudinal Study Baseline Report, a move aimed at strengthening access to quality and inclusive education for all children, including those with disabilities.

The report, spearheaded by the Ministry of Education and Action Foundation, seeks to support evidence-based interventions and inform policies that respond to the diverse learning needs of children during their early years.

The launch brought together key stakeholders in the education sector, including representatives from the Ministry of Education, Action Foundation, Co-Impact and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), highlighting the importance of collaboration in advancing inclusive learning.

The Chief Guest, Nelson Sifuna, Education Secretary for Field Coordination and Co-Curricular Activities, reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind, emphasizing that every child deserves equal opportunities to learn, develop and thrive, regardless of disability.

The launch marks a step towards strengthening collaboration among education stakeholders and promoting policies and practices that address barriers to early childhood education.

KISE reiterated its commitment to championing inclusive education and ensuring every child has an opportunity to reach their full potential.

Boniface Mwangi on Opposition Unity: "The Enemy Is One—Ruto"

Politics in Kenya continues to evolve as conversations around governance, accountability, and the country's future gain momentum ahead of the next general election.

During an interview in Nairobi's Central Business District, activist and presidential aspirant Boniface Mwangi shared his views on some of the country's most pressing issues, including the economy, education, healthcare, corruption, and the possibility of opposition unity.

One of the defining moments of the conversation came when he was asked whether he would be willing to work with Edwin Sifuna and the United Opposition. Mwangi's response was direct:

"The enemy is one—Ruto."

As lifestyles change and processed foods become more common, many traditional crops and food practices are slowly disappearing, taking with them generations of knowledge about healthy living.

She also highlighted the critical role African women have played throughout history in ensuring food security. From selecting and preserving seeds to cultivating crops, harvesting, and preparing nutritious meals, women have long been the backbone of Africa's food systems. Their contribution has sustained families and communities for centuries.

Mukami believes that preserving indigenous foods is not only about protecting culture but also about improving nutrition, strengthening local economies, and building more sustainable food systems for future generations.

As Africa celebrates Pan-African Day, her message serves as a reminder that true progress includes valuing our own knowledge, traditions, and resources. By embracing indigenous foods, Africans can preserve their heritage while investing in healthier communities and a more resilient future.

Democrats Party leader Professor David Kiprono has claimed he received a vision from God about Kenya's political leadership, drawing parallels between the country's political journey and the biblical story of Moses and Joshua.

Speaking during an address, Kiprono likened veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga to Moses, saying his role was to guide the nation to the threshold of change, just as Moses led the Israelites to the edge of the Promised Land.

He compared President William Ruto to Joshua, the biblical leader who succeeded Moses, arguing that Kenya is entering what he described as a new phase of leadership.

Kiprono also referenced the Democrats Party's registration, noting that it is listed as party number 40 by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties. He said the number symbolizes a "bridge" and interpreted it as part of what he believes is a divine message about the country's political future.

The party leader further pointed to declining voter turnout in recent elections, arguing that it reflects growing public dissatisfaction with traditional politics and a desire for a new political direction.

Kenya's 2022 General Election recorded a voter turnout of approximately **65.4 per cent**, a decline from **79.5 per cent** in the 2017 election, according to figures released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The remarks come as political parties continue positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election, with leaders increasingly seeking to rally supporters through policy, ideology and public messaging.

Kiprono's statements represent his personal political and religious views. His claims of a divine vision cannot be independently verified but add to the ongoing conversation on the intersection of faith and politics in Kenya.

"Justice cannot be selective."

The Coalition of Victims & Survivors Against State Violence has moved to court, challenging what it calls the selective compensation of victims of human rights violations.

The coalition says victims of abductions, enforced disappearances, and torture who were verified by the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) have been left out of the government's compensation exercise despite being officially recognized.

They are now calling for transparency, equal treatment, and the full implementation of the reparations framework without discrimination.

Following the court's conviction of former Migori Governor Okoth Obado, Ruth from the Women Collective says the ruling is a significant victory for survivors, human rights defenders, and everyone who has stood firm in the fight for accountability.

She recalled the difficult journey to justice, including the alleged threats and intimidation that some human rights defenders faced while demanding accountability. Despite those challenges, they refused to be silenced.
