Press Statement from the Family of the Late General Chagai Atem Biar
In light of recent videos circulating on social media, the family of the late General Chagai Atem wishes to address the public regarding our beloved son, Aboui Chagai Atem, AKA Aboy/Arabi Mafi.
Aboy/Arabi Mafi, who is remembered by many South Sudanese for his remarkable musical talent and impact in years past, has unfortunately been battling drug addiction for some time. This struggle created distance between him and his family, but we want to reaffirm that we have never given up on him.
With regard to the recent events and the condition depicted in the circulating videos, we would like to inform the general public and all South Sudanese that A-Boy has been safely apprehended and has now been admitted into a rehabilitation facility, where he has begun treatment.
As a family, we are committed to supporting him through this healing journey, and we kindly ask the public to join us in offering prayers and encouragement for his recovery.
We further appeal to everyone to disregard the old videos currently being shared on social media, as they do not represent his present situation.
The family sincerely thanks all those who have stood with us in support and compassion during this challenging time.
