On Wednesday I had the privilege of joining the Youth Employment Summit 2025 at PrideInn Westlands, themed: “Expanding Opportunities in Entry-Level Jobs in Domestic Sectors.”

While much of the discussion focused on entry-level domestic work, I believe we must also expand the conversation to the creative economy — a space where millions of young Africans are already building livelihoods through art, media, design, film, music, and digital storytelling.

The creative sector is not just about talent — it’s about job creation, innovation, and contributing to national development. Investing in youth through the creative economy is investing in sustainable employment for the future.

Why does every generation in Africa seem to start from scratch? From colonial dispossession to corruption and the burden of negative storytelling, the cycle of lost inheritance persists. Yet, Africa’s youth are rewriting the narrative.

Today at Kgill+ Media Hub, we join the world in celebrating the photographers who are not only capturing moments but also reshaping Africa’s story.

Too often, marginalized and underrepresented communities have been framed through struggle and despair. But through the lens of passionate African photographers, we now see resilience, creativity, and hope. These storytellers are shifting narratives, restoring dignity, and amplifying voices that have long been silenced.

As our founder Kevinne Mullick says: “The camera is more than equipment—it is a voice. And when placed in the hands of young creatives, it becomes a force for rewriting Africa’s narrative.”

Through our campaigns and , we remain committed to celebrating and supporting photographers who tell authentic, positive stories from the heart of our communities.

✨ To all photographers: Thank you for giving Africa new frames of identity, possibility, and pride. Your work is changing the world.
