2020 was a year of many motions and emotions. Many adjustments and adapting as well. And as we were all fighting in our different capacities to stay afloat, to stay alive, a more serious event was taking place. In this documentary, we highlight research led by the Presidential Policy & Strategy Unit (PASU) through the Executive office of the President in collaboration with Population Council that shows the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the lives of adolescents in Kenya. The opportunities and challenges impacting globally are immense and mostly unseen! As we continue to adjust to life altered by COVID-19, more efforts to uphold girls’ rights are needed to account for the setbacks they have faced.

The maize seed sector in East and Southern Africa is male-dominated. However, there are women working in this sector who are breaking social barriers and helping to improve household food security, nutrition and livelihoods by providing jobs and improved seed varieties to farmers.

We had the pleasure to visit 5 different Countries documenting the story of Women in Maize seed business In East and Southern Africa.

Air pollution from indoor and outdoor sources remains a major environmental and health issue, and a policy challenge in both developed and developing countries.

The challenge is more acute in urban areas such as Nairobi, Kenya where fine particulate matter, the air pollutant of primary concern for human health, has huge negative impacts on the health of marginalised communities living in informal settlements.

This pilot study by Stockholm Environment Institute will provide a basis for developing a more comprehensive and long-term collaborative programme that will contribute to reducing air pollution exposure, and the associated health effects, in informal settlements throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
