πŸ•ŠοΈ A TRIBUTE TO ARCHBISHOP JOHANNES KEPHAS ANGI πŸ•ŠοΈ

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His faithful servants." β€” Psalm 116:15

The bell of sorrow tolls again β€” this time for a man whose presence was as reassuring as his faith: Archbishop Johannes Kephas Angi.

This is more than the passing of a church leader. For me, it’s the farewell of a great friend, a spiritual elder, and a man whose life was beautifully interwoven with mine. His maternal roots were in my home village of Kanyamwa, while my own late father's maternal roots lay in his village of Kadhola. It felt like divine symmetry. And from the moment we met, he always called me "Wuod Jaduong’" β€” the son of the old man β€” never by name.

That old man was none other than my father, the late Bishop Dionsius Marikus Ogallo (RIP) β€” a devoted priest and a respected figure in the Legion Maria of African Church Mission. It was through him that I first met Archbishop Kephas Angi in the early 1990s at Nduru Legion Maria Parish in Kano Kabonyo, Kisumu County, where my father was then serving as parish priest. Archbishop Angi visited us on a Saturday, and the following day my father honoured him by giving him vestments and inviting him to celebrate Sunday Mass. That act of fraternity and faith laid the foundation of a lifelong bond.

He was the beloved son of the Late Clement Cardinal Angi, one of the spiritual architects and Saints of Legion Maria of African Church Mission. From that sacred lineage arose a shepherd full of kindness, laughter, wisdom, and unshakable faith.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." β€” 2 Timothy 4:7

Years later, I met him again when he served as Vicar General of Ndhiwa Diocese, working under His Lordship Tobias Otieno (Wuod Achieng’ Nyar Seje, RIP). He also faithfully pastored Ong'ogo Bilo Parish, and it was during this period that his commitment to the church and its faithful was most visibly lived out. Later, he was ordained Bishop..

St. Margaret was coming from a country called Hungary, she was a princess born in 1242. Her parents were the king and queen of Hungary. When she was a baby, her parents promised to give her to God because He helped save their country from danger.

Margaret joined a convent when she was very young. She became a Dominican nun and lived on an island, which is now called Margaret Island. Even though she was a princess, she chose a simple life. She chose to help people who were sick, poor, and stressed.

Many people loved her because she was kind, holy, and did miracles. She died when she was only 28 years old, and people soon started calling her a saint.

The story about St. Catherine of Siena ( Doctor of the church).

A long time ago, in the city of Siena, Italy, a little girl named Catherine was born in 1347. She was one of 25 children in her family! Even as a child, Catherine loved God very much. She spent a lot of time praying and helping others.

Catherine wanted to live a holy life. While others wanted her to get married, she chose to serve God instead. She became part of the Dominican order, even though she stayed at home with her family. She helped the sick and the poor and was very kind to everyone.

St. Catherine of Siena became known as a patron saint of hospitals because of her deep care for the sick and poor. During her life, especially in times of plague and illness, she would visit hospitals and homes to care for people who were suffering. She cleaned wounds, fed the hungry, and comforted those who were dyingβ€”even when others were too afraid to help.

She believed that serving the sick was a way of serving Jesus Himself. Her bravery, compassion, and tireless service inspired many, and after her death, the Church recognized her not only as a saint but also as a patron saint of nurses and hospitals.

Her life reminds us that caring for the sick is a holy and loving act.

People saw how wise she was, even though she never went to school. Many came to her for advice, and even Pope Gregory XI listened to her! She helped bring peace to the Church and even convinced the Pope to return to Rome when he was living in France.

Catherine also had special visions where she talked to Jesus. She wrote about these in a book called The Dialogue. Her words helped many people grow closer to God.

St. Catherine died when she was only 33 years old, but she is still remembered today for her great love, bravery, and wisdom. She became a saint in 1461 and was later named a Doctor of the Churchβ€”a special title for people who taught important things about God.

St. Catherine of Siena is honoured in the Catholic , Orthodox....
