THE HISTORY OF THE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH PIONEERS

Who were the SDA Pioneers? Why is it
important? Should you read what they wrote? Were they inspired? Read on for answers.

THE BEGINNING OF SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST

At the time of the Great Disappointment in 1844, a small group arose who would eventually become known as the Seventh-day Adventists.

This list includes such names as these (not an exhaustive list):

James White (1821-1881) – writer, preacher, administrator
Ellen G. White (1827-1915) – writer, messenger of the Lord
Joseph Bates (1792-1872) – author, retired ship’s captain
Stephen Pierce (1804-1883) – Bible student, author
Hiram Edson (1806-1882) – preacher, author
John N. Andrews (1829-1883) – author, preacher, missionary
E. Cornell (1827-1893) – preacher, evangelist
Stephen Haskell (1833-1922) – evangelist, administrator, missionary
N. Loughborough (1832-1924) – evangelist, administrator
Uriah Smith (1832-1903) – editor, administrator, preacher

These believers, who went through the experiences of those early days, are known as the Adventist Pioneers. They are first-generation pioneers, and most properly deserve to be known as the pioneers of the Seventh-day Adventists.

These principles were not given to those who had had no part in the giving of the first and second angels’ messages. They were given to the workers who had had a part in the cause from the beginning.” Selected Messages, bk. 2, p. 389:3.

THE PIONEERS MUST SPEAK

Many years later, when a doctrinal crisis enveloped the growing church, Ellen White referred to these pioneers from the early 1840s, and urged that they speak out, and that the writings of those who had passed away be reprinted.

Is Jesus Christ a ―He‖ and a ―Him‖ even if it is by ―HIS‖ Spirit? Of Course!
Therefore, the Holy Spirit is NOT another being,which is a manmade doctrine from Satan via the Cathoic
Church in 381 AD long after the Bible was written so Satan could achieve worship. How easily so many
have been deceived and indoctrinated with Satan’s lie.

General Conference-not the voice of God

What did the Seventh-day Adventist pioneers believe?

“I have been shown that the Jewish nation were not brought suddenly into their condition of thought and practice. From generation to generation they were working on false theories, carrying out principles that were opposed to the truth, and combining with their religion thoughts and plans that were the product of human minds; human inventions were made supreme.” – Ellen White, Letter 55, September 19, 1895, par. 3

In 1980, when the General Conference was held in Dallas, Texas, a small group of men had been at work already in changing the doctrines of the Seventh-Day Adventist church. WERE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST PIONEERS ARIANS OR SEMI-ARIANS?
Did they believe that Christ was a created being? Or did they actually have the correct understanding of the True God of the Bible and His Son?

The word A***n was used by Rome as a stigma. And that stigma would apply to anyone who disagreed with her (Roman Catholic Church and their dogma, especially the Trinity). It was like a theological slur. This had a real negative tone to it with real consequences, and history reveals that those who opposed Rome were persecuted as heretics.

The Seventh-day Adventist’s own historians characterize the church’s founding pioneers as primarily “non-trinitarians.” In addition, they have also characterized our pioneers as either A***ns or Semi-A***ns. Furthermore, the historians have equated the labels, (A***ns or Semi-A***ns), as those who believe Christ to be a created being.

“Our pioneers clearly held A***n or semi-A***n views in regard to the person of Christ. They understood “firstborn over all creation” (Col 1:15) and “only begotten Son” (John 3:16) in a literal sense. The Father, therefore, was first and superior, and the Son, who had a beginning sometime in eternity, was subordinate to the Father. A corollary of this view was the belief that the Holy Spirit is an influence or the power of God, but not a person.”

There are some who seem to be always seeking for the heavenly pearl. But they do not make an entire surrender of their wrong habits. They do not die to self that Christ may live in them. Therefore they do not find the precious pearl. They have not overcome unholy ambition and their love for worldly attractions. They do not take up the cross and follow Christ in the path of self-denial and sacrifice.
