Why Every Author Must Learn How to Create Ads: Your Book's Success Depends on It

Gone are the days when you could just write a book and wait for readers to find it. Today, millions of books are published every year, and the competition is fierce. If you want your book to stand out and actually sell, you need to master the art of advertising. This is not optional anymore, it is essential for every serious author who wants to make money from their writing.

Think about it this way. When you go to a supermarket, which products do you notice first? The ones with attractive packaging and clear signs, right? The same principle applies to books. Your book might be amazing, but if people do not know it exists, they cannot buy it. Advertising is how you put your book in front of the right readers at the right time.

The biggest mistake Kenyan authors make is thinking that word of mouth alone will sell their books. While recommendations from friends are powerful, they work slowly and reach only a small number of people. Advertising, on the other hand, can reach thousands of potential readers in a matter of hours. It speeds up the process and gives you control over who sees your book.

Here are the most important types of ads every author should know how to create. Facebook and Instagram ads are crucial because most Kenyans spend hours on these platforms every day. These ads allow you to target people based on their interests, age, location, and reading habits. Google ads are equally important because they catch people when they are actively searching for books like yours. Amazon ads are essential if you sell on Amazon, as they put your book directly in front of people who are already shopping for books.

You should also consider YouTube ads, especially if you write non fiction or educational books. Many Kenyans watch YouTube videos to learn new things, and a well made video ad can showcase your expertise and drive book sales. WhatsApp Business ads are becoming popular in Kenya, and they work well for reaching local audiences. TikTok ads are perfect if you write for younger readers, as this platform is growing rapidly among Kenyan youth.

Learning to create ads might seem overwhelming at first, but it is a skill that pays for itself many times over. A single successful ad campaign can sell hundreds of copies of your book and establish you as a serious author. The key is to start simple, test different approaches, and learn what works for your specific book and audience.

Let us help you publish, print and market your book with professional advertising strategies that actually work. Contact The Writers Pen Publishers today and learn how to turn your book into a bestseller.

Why Your Book Is Not Selling: The Hard Truth Every Kenyan Author Needs to Know

You spent months writing your book. You poured your heart into every page. You finally published it, and now you are waiting for the sales to come rolling in. But weeks pass, then months, and your book is still sitting there with zero or very few sales. What went wrong?

The truth is, writing a good book is only half the battle. Many talented Kenyan authors make the same mistakes that kill their book sales before they even start. You might have the best story in the world, but if nobody knows about it, nobody will buy it. Publishing your book on Amazon or any other platform and hoping people will magically find it is like opening a shop in a remote village and expecting customers from Nairobi to somehow discover it.

Another big problem is poor book presentation. Your book cover is the first thing potential readers see, and if it looks unprofessional or does not grab attention, people will scroll past it without a second thought. Many authors try to save money by designing their own covers or asking a friend to help, but this often backfires. A poorly designed cover tells readers that the content inside might also be of poor quality.

Marketing is where most authors fail completely. They think that once the book is published, their job is done. But the real work begins after publication. You need to tell people about your book, create excitement around it, and give readers a reason to choose your book over the thousands of others available. Social media posts, book reviews, author interviews, and book launch events are not optional extras, they are essential parts of the publishing process.

Pricing your book wrong can also kill your sales. Some authors price their books too high because they want to make more money per sale, while others price too low thinking it will attract more buyers. Both approaches can backfire. The right price depends on your book's genre, length, your target audience, and how you position your book in the market.

The good news is that all these problems can be solved. You do not have to figure everything out on your own. Professional publishers understand what makes books sell and what kills sales. They know how to create eye catching covers, write compelling book descriptions, set the right price, and create marketing campaigns that actually work.

Let us help you publish, print and market your book the right way. Contact The Writers Pen Publishers today and turn your dream of becoming a successful author into reality.

How To Safeguard Your Manuscript Before You Publish

Writing a book is a labor of love. You’ve poured your time, energy, and heart into every chapter. But before you rush to publish, it’s important to protect your work. Many first-time authors forget that their manuscript is valuable and it deserves security.

📌 First, always back up your work. Don’t just rely on your laptop or phone. Use Google Drive, Dropbox, or even email yourself a copy. This way, if your device crashes or gets lost, your manuscript is still safe.

📌 Second, consider copyright. In many countries, your work is automatically protected once you write it, but registering it with your local copyright office gives you stronger legal proof in case of disputes.

📌 Third, share carefully. If you’re working with editors, designers, or beta readers, send watermarked or partial copies. Trust is good, but safeguarding yourself is better. You can also sign a simple agreement to protect your rights.

📌 Finally, don’t forget metadata. When you upload your manuscript online, ensure your name is in the file properties. This small detail can be useful if someone tries to misuse your work.

Your book is your baby, protect it before it meets the world. Publishing becomes much smoother when you know your work is safe. Take these steps today, and write with peace of mind tomorrow.

The Drowning Fish is an allegory that, in a well crafted style, reflects some of the most burning issues we have in the society: greed, corruption, gender violence, adultery among others. The term drowning fish is a paradox where we are presented with a society suffering in the hands of those who should be in their help. The pastor here is taken to represent the leaders who are busy announcing that every citizen deserves equal treatment yet what they do is totally different_ we entrusted them expecting the better from them yet we met the worse_ the fish that is supposed to get life in the water is now dying in the water.
This is literature from another perspective in that they are now forcing us to do what is just yet they have not showed us the example we should follow.
