H.E. Raila Odinga’s call for an Intergenerational National Dialogue is exactly what this country needs. He has the influence, the experience, and a proven track record in every national process he has led. At a time that demands sobriety and courage, this proposal is our most viable path forward.
We have the critical mass. What we need now is political goodwill. The man with the largest political constituency and the deepest roots in the Kenyan struggle is available to us. We must not waste this moment.
Young people are worth more than hashtags, skits, or being used as bait to register for 2027. We are citizens. Stakeholders. Nation-builders. We are the ones who grant Kenya her sovereignty. We MUST be at the decision-making table.
Those in the so-called opposition castigating Raila today are simply trying to read from his playbook, a playbook they neither authored nor fully understand.
Let’s be honest:
Too much blood has been shed for anyone to keep sending people’s children to the streets for revolutions they never show up for. We must resist the tribal trap this country has endured for decades. We must resist it both from the state, and from sanitized hashtags. Kwa mfano, in 2017, when valiant Kenyans were being murdered, we weren’t all Luo. Today, we are “all Kikuyus.” Tomorrow, who will it be?
Oppression has touched every corner of this country. So must justice! We cannot heal the wound by deepening it. Some of the very people responsible for our pain now hijack our hashtags; unscathed and unrepentant.
We have what it takes to fix this republic.
Let every key stakeholder bring their finest to the table. Let us sit, speak, wrestle, and imagine. Let us shape the Kenya we want.
