Tragedy struck Jacaranda Gardens Estate in Roysambu on June 12, 2025, when a heavily drunk man identified as James M. threw his 5-year-old niece, Amanda Mutheu, from a fifth-floor balcony to her death.

The man reportedly stormed into the house, argued with the nanny, and violently grabbed Amanda before hurling her off the balcony despite the nanny's screams for help.

Amanda was rushed to Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital but died in the ICU. The intoxicated uncle later told police he thought he had thrown a doll, not a child, claiming, “I love her so much.”

Furious residents beat him up before police from Kahawa West Police Station arrived and arrested him. He was treated for injuries at the same hospital where Amanda died.

Amanda was a bright young child actress, and the incident has sparked public outrage and fresh calls for tougher alcohol laws, as about 30% of violent crimes in Nairobi are linked to alcohol.

FIDA-Kenya condemned the act and deployed legal support to ensure swift justice, while Kasarani Police Commander Emmanuel Rono assured the public that justice will be served.

Tragedy has struck again as a second Kenyan police officer, Benedict Kabiru Kuría, was brutally killed by armed gangs in Haiti during a security operation in Petite-Rivière de l'Artibonite.

Kuría, who hailed from Thamanda village, Sigona ward, Kikuyu constituency, lost his life in a violent ambush where the attackers not only killed him but also recorded and shared a disturbing video of the act.

Fortunately, the rest of the officers managed to escape unharmed, but the gangs torched three armored vehicles in the chaos.

This latest attack raises growing concerns over Kenya’s peacekeeping mission in Haiti, where heavily armed criminal groups continue to challenge law enforcement efforts.

The officer’s death has sparked outrage and deep sorrow, with many Kenyans calling for urgent measures to protect the troops deployed in the volatile Caribbean nation. ゚viralシ

Kenyan men's national football team goalkeeper Patrick Matasi has been dragged into serious allegations of match-fixing after a secretly recorded video was leaked allegedly showing him negotiating a deal to manipulate the outcome of a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match.

Matasi, who currently plays for Kakamega Homeboyz FC after a recent stint at Kenya Police FC, is seen in the video seated in the right back seat of a stationary vehicle, actively engaged in a conversation with someone off-camera.

The footage was secretly recorded from the left back seat by another person, though the exact date it was taken remains unclear.

Having previously played for Tusker FC, Posta Rangers FC and AFC Leopards, Matasi has long been regarded as one of Kenya’s top goalkeepers.

However, his performances have often sparked debate among fans, with some questioning his inconsistency in crucial matches.

Even Harambee Stars supporters have at times expressed frustration over inexplicable errors that have in the past cost the teams valuable points.

There have been instances where Matasi, despite his experience and skill, has conceded goals that seemed avoidable, leading to speculation about whether his lapses were due to complacency, poor form, or something more deliberate.

Some of his mistakes have appeared uncharacteristic for a goalkeeper of his caliber.

With the emergence of the leaked video, those past concerns have taken on a new dimension, as many are now revisiting his performances with fresh suspicion and wondering whether some of his costly mistakes were truly accidental.

POLICE OFFICER ATTACHED TO STATE HOUSE SPOKESPERSON KILLS MAN AFTER BET DISPUTE.

A police officer attached to State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed is said to have fatally shot a man in Kawangware, Nairobi, on Sunday night following a confrontation over a pool game.

The officer allegedly fired multiple shots at 35-year-old Amos Lagat, hitting him in the stomach and chest at close range.

Witnesses say the argument started after Lagat won a bet in a local pub in the Amboseli area.

According to locals, the officer appeared agitated after losing and an altercation ensued, leading to the shooting.

It is claimed that Lagat did not pose any threat when the officer opened fire.

However, the officer later reported to Muthangari Police Station, stating that he had been ambushed by three unknown men who attempted to sn**ch his Ceska pistol.

He claimed he struggled with one of them before managing to retrieve his weapon and fired in the air as he fled.

Police officers who visited the scene found that the officer had, in fact, shot Lagat several times, contradicting his account.

Lagat was rushed to Mary Immaculate Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

His body was later moved to Chiromo Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The officer, who later sought treatment for an alleged hand fracture and shoulder injury, surrendered his firearm with three rounds of ammunition remaining in the magazine.

Detectives have since launched investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing.

The shooting has triggered outrage among residents, with some accusing the officer of using his position to harass locals.

Concerns have also emerged over possible interference in the case, as sources claim some officials are attempting to downplay the incident.

President William Ruto’s decision to expand the number of State Departments from 50 to 57 is set to cost taxpayers an extra Ksh 66.6 million annually in salaries for seven additional Principal Secretaries (PSs).

The restructuring, which appears to be politically motivated following high-level political negotiations between the government and opposition leader Raila Odinga directed at fostering bipartisan cooperation, has raised the monthly salary bill for all Principal Secretaries to Ksh 45.2 million, prompting concerns over its fiscal impact.

This translates to Ksh 542.1 million per year and Ksh 2.71 billion over a five-year term.

Each PS currently earns a fixed monthly salary of Ksh 792,519, as outlined in an August 2023 Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) notice.

The package includes a basic salary of Ksh 475,511, a house allowance of Ksh 150,000, and a market adjustment of Ksh 167,008.

Three PSs, those overseeing Interior, Treasury, and Foreign Affairs, also receive an additional Ksh 100,000 responsibility allowance.

Apart from their salaries, PSs enjoy state-funded medical insurance, retirement benefits, and official vehicles with a 3,000cc engine capacity maintained by taxpayers.

The country’s wage bill, already exceeding Ksh 1 trillion annually, continues to grow, with public servants now costing taxpayers more than ever before.
