My Two Cents on Why Baba Possibly Lost

One of the major blunders that could have resulted to the loss of Raila Odinga could have occurred when President William Ruto engaged with French President Emmanuel Macron on the Great Lakes conflict especially DRC Congo case without broader African leadership consultations.

President Ruto is on record admitting to having a phone conversation with the French President.

This move raised eyebrows and concerns about Kenya's unilateral approach on continental and international issues. .

That aside, the recent demonstrations that led to abductions and forced disappearances of local and internationals could've been a contributor to Kenya's candidate failure.

What fans the matter more is the international abductions of foreign nationals in Nairobi which heightened security concerns, raising questions about Kenya's local stability.

Two of the main incidents involved Uganda's opposition leader Kizza Besigye and Tanzanian activist Maria Sarungi Tsehai.

Their abductions may have damaged Kenya's regional image, potentially affecting the AUC vote.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President, Faith Odhiambo has criticized the law enforcement authorities for the manner in which a demonstrator, Grace Njoki Mulei promising to bail her out if the case.

In a notice Faith said Grace was fighting for her rights in demanding for accountability from the government just like any other Kenyan and didn't deserve the treatment she received.

"The persecution of Grace Mulei for demanding accountability from the Government is anathema to our constitution and rule of law. Her arrest is not only substantively flawed, but was done in a manner inconsistent with the inherent dignity of every person, especially vulnerable members of society", she said.

"The alleged offence of causing a public disturbance is only punishable by a fine or imprisonment for 6 months. Article 49(2) of the Constitution prohibits persons arrested on such claims from being remanded in custody", she added.

Kenya has slowly but surely sinking in deep trouble especially when institutions meant to uphold integrity are handed out as political favours.

The Director of Public Prosecutions who conveniently withdrew high-profile cases involving politicians close to President William Ruto.

I find it hard to distance the President from these deeds. One of those beneficiaries was his first deputy, Rigathi Gachagua. That case can get life bethe way if he continues attacking the government, sorry for this, but isn't it what it is?

As if that wasn’t enough, we haven’t forgotten the blatant refusal to charge those accused of looting billions of shillings in Covid-19 funds through KEMSA.

This is but 2% of some issued that have gone unaddressed!

It's very unfortunate that we're slowly getting back to the dark days of abductions and unexplained deaths and loses which are in most cases not explained.

Most of these abductions have political attachments al mostly routing from expressing displeasure in the current regime and administration which considered the worse after the 24 years under Moi.

Many people wonder how the arrests get done. One, it doesn't matter the kind of a phone one is using, smart if 'analogue', if they want you, they'll get you.

There are softwares and applications that are used to track you down one of the greatest of them being PEGASUS, and it doesn't need your help to get into your phone

Those wondering meant by Pegasus let me explain how it works:

Pegasus is a hacking software – or spyware – that is developed, marketed, and licensed to governments around the world by the Israeli company NSO Group.

It has the capability to infect billions of phones running either iOS or Android operating systems.

It is the name for perhaps the most powerful piece of spyware ever developed – certainly by a private company.

Once it has wormed its way onto your phone, without you noticing, it can turn it into a 24-hour surveillance device. It can copy messages you send or receive, harvest your photos, and record your calls.

It might secretly film you through your phone’s camera or activate the microphone to record your conversations. It can potentially pinpoint where you are, where you’ve been, and who you’ve met.

Pegasus infections can be achieved through so-called “zero-click” attacks, which do not require any interaction from the phone’s owner in order to succeed.

These will often exploit “zero-day” vulnerabilities, which are flaws or bugs in an operating system that the mobile phone’s manufacturer does not yet know about and so has not been able to fix.
