TRUE FRIENDSHIP IN ACTION:

When radio icon Festus Amimo passed away peacefully in Nairobi while asleep, Luo tradition required a simba (house) be built for his eldest son in the family village homestead.

Friends gathered, planning to construct a semi-permanent aluminum structure (sut) to honor the custom.

But Hon. David Ochieng', MP for Ugenya, had other plans.

"Not for my friend. Not for Festus."

In an extraordinary act of brotherhood, Hon. Ochieng' chose to build a permanent house instead... completing it in just SIX DAYS, the fastest permanent simba ever constructed in Luo Nyanza.

He also financed Festus' final resting place, ensuring his friend would be laid to rest with dignity.

This is what true friendship looks like... not in words, but in action.

Festus Amimo will be buried in his village home this week, his son now sheltered under a roof built by love, loyalty, and unwavering brotherhood.

Rest in power, Festus. Your legacy stands strong.

To Hon. David Ochieng': Thank you for showing us what real friendship means.

Festus Amimo was a veteran Kenyan radio journalist and broadcaster, known for his work with Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
At the time of his death (reported 7 December 2025), he served as the head of the KBC Dholuo radio station Mayienga FM.

He was popularly known by the nickname β€œWuod Awasi”

His career reportedly started in 2004 at KBC’s Kisumu branch; when Mayienga FM was established he moved to Nairobi to take part in its operations.

Beyond radio presenting, he also served as chairperson of the Luo Journalists Association a leadership position within the community of Luo-language journalists.

His death was sudden: he collapsed and died in a room in Nairobi on the night of Saturday, December 6. The cause of death is under investigation.

A life well lived is one filled with joy and love.

Life is a gift, love is a gift, and when both are bestowed, you have a life well lived.

Evidence of a life well lived is found in those who loved you.

The legacy of love is all the proofs that's needed.

While we humbly accept Gods will, Oliech's sudden passing will remain one of my greatest personal loses of a friend, confidant and brother. Oliech had a heart of gold. He was incredibly humble, loving, remarkable generous and devoutly loyal to his family and friends. We will celebrate your life, but we shall miss you dearly. The world is a darker place without you. Rest in peace brother, till we meet again. Ojijo John

S T A T E M E N T(15th Jan, 2023)

Good morning everyone, it has been a discussion about the dormance of the newly unveiled JaMjengotv. I apologize for the dormancy which has lasted one and a half months. The journey kick-started well, unfortunately a PREDICAMENT fell on me (eye-sight problem). Just after doing a few recordings, I had a problem with my right eye, as I speak I am seemingly going blind on one eye. I sought the help of a specialist and so far I have visited 2 ophthalmologists, check up done but NOTHING has bore fruits from the check ups.

I currently CAN'T be on camera because I have been asked to completely avoid artificial light and also reduce on natural light, very teary and with sharp hitting pain, I can't hold my head up for minutes. I was advised to do an MRI and also see a neurologist I did see a neurologist who has put me on a 40 day dose, within this period I am to avoid artificial light.

Hopefully after the 40 day dose, I will be advised whether I can get back to camera and do what I love and so passionate about. To those who've reached out to me and also to those who've physically paid me a visit, I don't take it for granted, THANK YOU SO MUCH. Thank you Odhiambo Nyangwe , Amos Oyier , Joyjoy Ayugi , Solomon Oresi, Fredrick Aloo , Elsy Nyagengo

I only ask for your prayers and I am looking forward to getting back with more activities on our page.

Thank you!
