✍️Project Visitation at Soi Farm – Joseph Kirombe’s Story
Last week on 29th August 2025, our National Director, Fr. Patrick Esekon, visited Soi Farm where one of our Catholic Lay Missionaries, Joseph Kirombe, continues to serve with great commitment and resilience.
Joseph describes his missionary journey as both challenging and deeply fulfilling. As a CLM volunteer, he has found meaning in stepping out of his comfort zone, engaging with new environments, contributing his time and effort to the community, and in the process, growing both personally and professionally.
At Soi Farm, they are slowly picking up financially. The little income must stretch to cover salaries, food, and cow expenses. for this reason, Joseph has taken on multiple roles from administrative management to shamba boy, and at times, even herdsman all to ensure the smooth running of the farm and to win the trust of his co-workers.
Daily challenges range from food security, farm infrastructure, and language barriers, to broader issues of community security. The nearby village, Sheywe (a Luhya word meaning “broom” in Kiswahili), faces high rates of youth unemployment, drug abuse, and early pregnancies, issues that often spill over into the farm environment.
Yet, Joseph remains steadfast. He actively participates in small farm activities, attends local events, shares stories, and offers hope for a better tomorrow. His service reflects the heart of mission: going the extra mile to serve, uplift, and walk alongside the community despite the odds.
We thank Joseph for his dedication and Fr. Patrick for taking the time to walk with him in this journey of faith and service. 🙏
