Linet Toto has been hit with a tidal wave of criticism, and honestly, it's not hard to see why.
What do you expect when you take someone who’s never had a taste of luxury and suddenly thrust them into the limelight? It's like turning a villager's life from grass to grace overnight.
People are naturally shaped by their past experiences. You can't expect Linet, who's spent most of her life without money, to suddenly turn it down when it’s dangled in front of her – especially if all she has to do is support a bill.
Dignity often takes a backseat when poverty steps in. Late-in-life wealth can mess with your thinking. That's why Generation X is so frugal. They grew up during tough times, always saving for tomorrow, and you won’t hear them talk about wasteful spending.
Parents, whether you're young or seasoned, give your kids a taste of the good life early on. Let them eat at fancy restaurants, travel, and live in nice neighborhoods. Show them the world while they're young.
Their reactions and behavior will be different when they’ve experienced all this early. They won’t sell out their principles for a quick buck. This finance bill has taught me a crucial lesson: never sympathize too much with the poor, and certainly don’t entrust them with your future.
