The DW Akademie is the media development, media consulting and professional journalism training division of Deutsche Welle – Germany's international broadcaster. It offers partners and clients worldwide a broad spectrum of training and consulting services. The work of the DW Akademie is financed by public funding. The largest donor is the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). What does the DW Akademie do in Africa? Our work in Africa engages with journalists and partners across a wide range of media including radio, TV, online, mobile and film. One of the priorities of the DW Akademie in Africa is to support and strengthen independent media in post-conflict countries and countries in transition. We are for example implementing long-term media development projects in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda. We work with a broad spectrum of local and national broadcasters, as well as regional and international development partners.
