The rapper (who was born Belcalis Almanzar), 32, was facing a $24 million lawsuit from a former security guard, Emani Ellis, who alleged that Cardi attacked her in 2018.

Ellis claimed the incident happened outside a Beverly Hills medical office, accusing Cardi of using her long fingernails to scratch her cheek, spitting on her, and directing racial slurs toward her. According to Ellis, the alleged altercation left her with both physical injuries and emotional distress.

Her demand for $24 million in damages was based on claims of assault, battery, and the psychological harm she endured. After reviewing the evidence, the jury ruled in Cardi’s favour, deciding she was not liable and would not be required to pay any damages.

Rodríguez and Ronaldo, 40, have been together for eight years and got engaged earlier last month. They share five children: twins Eva Maria and Mateo, eight, daughter Alana, seven, daughter Bella, three, and 15-year-old son Cristiano Jr., whom Ronaldo welcomed in a previous relationship.

The Weeknd is reportedly in talks to raise $1 billion USD in financing, using his music rights as collateral.

The deal, which is still in the early stages, would see The Weeknd use his stake in his music publishing rights and his share of the master recordings as collateral. This move is a departure from a traditional catalog sale, as it would allow the artist to access significant capital without completely giving up ownership of his music.

According to Bloomberg, private equity firm, Lyric Capital Group, are reportedly the frontrunner in assembling a package and are offering $500 million in senior debt, $250 million in junior debt and $250 million in equity. The Weeknd and Lyric Capital Group are yet to comment on the reports.

Drake Acquires Tupac’s Iconic Death Row Records Chain Pendant

Drake purchased Tupac Shakur’s original Death Row Records chain from collector Alexander Bitar. The pendant features the Death Row logo and an engraving referencing Shakur’s 1996 album All Eyez On Me.

The historic pendant was originally part of a limited set of chains commissioned by Death Row co-founder Suge Knight for the label’s biggest stars. At the time, only artists like Tupac and Snoop Dogg were given the coveted pieces, symbolizing the label’s dominance in the ‘90s.

This is not the first time Drake has invested in Tupac memorabilia. In July 2023, the Canadian rapper made headlines after dropping $1.01 million at a Sotheby’s auction for Tupac’s custom crown ring — the most expensive hip-hop artifact ever sold. Designed by Tupac himself and worn during his final public appearance at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards, the gold-and-gemstone ring was engraved with “Pac & Dada 1996,” a reference to his engagement to Kidada Jones.

Vybz Kartel’s Lawyer Files Application For His Release

Lawyers representing Vybz Kartel and two of his three co-accused have filed a Habeas Corpus Application in the Supreme Court seeking their release as they await a hearing on whether they will be re-tried for murder next month.The said Application filed on Monday, May 13 will be heard on May 29 and 30.

On whether Kartel and his co-accused Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell, Andre St. John and Kahira Jones should be re-tried for the 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, The Court of Appeal will hear arguments on June 10, 2024.

The Court of Appeal hearing next month will decide on the way forward after hearing arguments for and against a retrial based on law and facts. The hearing comes following the ruling by the Privy Council in March that the men did not receive a fair trial, quashing their murder conviction and ordering that the matter be remitted to the Court of Appeal for a decision.

Vybz Kartel’s Final Appeal Commences Tomorrow

The hearing of the Appeal will commence tomorrow February 14, 2024 to February 15, 2024 by Justices Lord Reed, Lord Lloyd-Jones, Lord Briggs, Lord Burrows, and Lady Simler. The case details shared via the UK Privy Council website are that the Appellants are challenging the March 13, 2014, conviction for the murder of associate Clive “Lizard” Williams.

They inter alia allege that crucial cellphone evidence was improperly obtained and that the trial itself was compromised. The Appellants were all arrested on September 30, 2011, and police seized their cellular telephones. The evidence from the phones taken by Digicel Communications and placed on a CD was heavily relied on during the trial.

Their March 13, 2014 conviction was upheld by the Jamaica Court Of Appeal in April 2020 prompting the four men to move to the Privy Council, the final court of appeal for some Commonwealth nations, including Jamaica, seeking to overturn their life sentences that range from 22 to 32 years before parole.

Vybz Kartel’s Appeal Lawyer Isat Buchanan Suspended For 2 Years

The General Legal Council, the oversight body for lawyers in Jamaica, has suspended attorney Isat Buchanan, the lead defense attorney on Vybz Kartel’s appeal case, for crass comments made towards the country’s Director of Public Prosecutions.

The disciplinary panel of the General Legal Council gave its decision after hearing from Buchanan and his legal representative that he should be suspended for two (2) years.

Buchanan is the lead attorney for Vybz Kartel and instructing counsel on his upcoming Privy Council appeal, which will be heard on Valentine’s Day next year. However, 16 lawyers are working on the trial (for all of the defendants) so his absence is unlikely to significantly affect the case.

ASAP Rocky To Stand Trial In Connection To Alleged Shooting

ASAP Rocky is set to stand trial in January 2024 for allegedly firing a semi-automatic handgun at his former friend ASAP Relli.

The decision was made during a preliminary hearing on Monday, where Judge M.L. Villar found sufficient evidence to proceed with the case. Rocky, who pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault with a firearm, faces charges from the incident dated Nov. 6, 2021.

Rocky’s upcoming trial will take place on Jan. 8, 2024. Relli has also filed a civil suit for assault, battery and emotional distress against Rocky.

Shakira has settled her Spanish tax fraud case right before the trial which was scheduled to begin in Barcelona, Spain, on Monday.

The 46-year-old Colombian singer was being charged with tax fraud allegations amounting to $15.8 million. She was facing an eight-year jail sentence and a $26 million fine if she was found guilty.

According to the sources, under the agreed deal, Shakira will receive a three-year suspended sentence and a fine of $7.6 million. The singer has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

Jamaica's final Appellate Court, the Privy Council, granted the incarcerated Dancehall Artiste Adidja 'Vybz Kartel' Palmer an ‘expedited hearing’ regarding his murder conviction appeal.

Isat Buchanan, the attorney representing Vybz Kartel, confirmed the latest development. “The date is confirmed as the 14 and 15 of February 2024, following the granting of an application for expedited hearing,” Buchanan said. “The application was made after Mr Palmer’s health scare when placed in solitary confinement earlier this year,” he added.

It was reported earlier this year by Fox News New York that Kartel's Graves' disease and heart condition were getting worse, and that if he did not get surgery soon, it could be fatal.

Megan Thee Stallion Settles Legal Dispute With Former Label 1501 Certified Entertainment

The rapper and the label have “mutually reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences,” and will “amicably part ways.” Megan had originally filed a lawsuit against the label in 2020 claiming 1501 was preventing her from releasing music. She also accused 1501 Certified Entertainment of fraud, breach of contract, negligent misrepresentation, and more. Her legal team accused the label’s owner of having her sign an unconscionable contract.

Last year, Megan sued 1501 again, accusing the label of refusing to allow her to fulfill the terms of her contract. Megan alleged that, according to 1501, her 2021 release Something for Thee Hotties did not meet the legal definition of an “album,” and, therefore, did not satisfy her contract’s “Minimum Recording Commitment.” 1501 then countersued Megan, claiming she was in breach of contract and insisting that Something for Thee Hotties was not a legitimate album.

The specific terms of the deal including if there was any exchange of money have been kept under wraps.

Tyga and Blac Chyna‘s child support battle rages on, and in the latest development, the “Rack City” rapper is demanding sole custody of their son, King Cairo.

According to newly-filed documents obtained by The Blast on Monday, Tyga wants Chyna to have a “reasonable right of parenting time (visitation) to the party without physical custody,” instead of sharing custody. As far as travel goes, the Last Kings creator also wants to “have written permission from the other parent or party, or a court order, to take the children out of the state of California.”

The move is in response to Blac Chyna filing a petition in the Los Angeles County Superior Court in August, where she requested joint custody of King. She also filed a petition for child support.
