Kenya is crying — you can see it in the painted black tears, you can feel it in the silence inside our homes, and you can hear it in the chants on our streets during maandamano. This portrait tells our truth: we cover our sadness with our flag, but we cannot hide forever. One side of her face shows vitiligo makeup — a reminder that we are all different, yet the same. Different tribes, backgrounds, struggles — but one dream: justice, dignity, and freedom.

Every day, young people wake up jobless, hungry, and afraid to speak because their voices are silenced with force. They march for better, but bullets and batons greet them instead of solutions. This is the state of Kenya today — a country strong enough to fight but hurting too much to heal alone.

May this photo remind us that we are not alone. We stand with brave people and groups who fight every day to protect human rights and speak truth to power. To everyone raising their voices — we see you. We thank you.

Together with — may our tears turn into courage, and may our courage bring real change. 🇰🇪✊🏾

Today, during Water Day at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Kenya highlighted its pivotal role in addressing water security and climate adaptation challenges. As a nation severely affected by climate change, Kenya has prioritized water resource management and adaptation funding as part of its broader climate strategy.

Kenya's delegation, led by key figures including Environment CS Aden Duale and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, emphasized the urgency of enhancing water infrastructure. With droughts and unpredictable rainfall patterns worsening, ensuring sustainable access to clean water is critical for both human consumption and agriculture, which forms the backbone of Kenya's economy. The government is also focusing on disaster resilience, water harvesting, and climate-proof storage systems to mitigate the impacts of climate extremes.

Additionally, Kenya advocates for equitable climate finance. At COP29, African nations, including Kenya, called for the full operationalization of the Loss and Damage Fund, which aims to address irreversible climate impacts such as infrastructure destruction caused by floods and prolonged droughts. Despite its minimal contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions, Kenya continues to face severe consequences, underscoring the need for increased global support.

Water security remains a cornerstone of Kenya's National Climate Change Action Plan, which integrates environmental sustainability with economic development goals. As discussions unfold, Kenya remains resolute in pushing for tangible solutions to secure climate justice for its people and the continent.

Title: "I'M NOT A TARGET" – A Visual Stand Against Femicide

In Kenya, the crisis of femicide – the murder of women simply for being women – continues to grow. This photo series, "I'M NOT A TARGET," responds to this heartbreaking reality. The model stands before a red-and-white archery target, a powerful symbol of how society often treats women as easy victims of violence. Sharp knives placed around the target serve as a stark warning of the everyday dangers that women face.

This image is a protest. It speaks to the fear, suffering, and injustice endured by too many women. Through this bold visual, we are declaring that women are not objects or targets of violence; they are human beings who deserve safety, respect, and freedom.

"I'M NOT A TARGET" is a call for immediate action. We must unite to end femicide, protect women, and create a society where all can live without fear. Join us in raising awareness and standing against this violence. Together, let’s work toward a future where women are safe, valued, and respected.

Title: "I'M NOT A TARGET"– A Visual Protest Against Femicide

In Kenya, femicide – the killing of women simply because they are women – is a growing and urgent issue. This photo series, titled "I'M NOT A TARGET," is our way of addressing this crisis. The model stands against a red-and-white archery target, symbolizing how society often treats women as easy marks for violence. Knives, fixed sharply around the target, serve as a stark reminder of the dangers that women face.

This image is a protest. It speaks to the fear, pain, and injustice that too many women endure daily. By creating this powerful visual, we are saying: women are not targets. They are not objects or marks of violence. They deserve safety, respect, and freedom.

With "I'M NOT A TARGET," we call for urgent change. It’s time to stand up against femicide, to protect women, and to create a society where all people can live free from fear and harm. Join us in raising awareness and speaking out against this violence. Together, let’s build a future where women are truly safe, valued, and respected.

MAISHA NYORORO SPARTAN PHOTOGRAPHY KENYA Addressing the Scourge of Femicide

At Spartan Photography Kenya, we are launching an important project titled "MAISHA NYORORO," focusing on the crisis of femicide in Kenya and beyond.
This is not just a statistic—over 90 women murdered in the past 90 days cannot be dismissed as "normal" crimes.
We believe that every woman’s life is valuable and deserves protection, dignity, and respect.

Our project seeks to shed light on the painful reality that, despite policies and gender desks set up to protect women, far too many cases remain ignored or improperly addressed.
Women have become easy targets for violence, often from those they trust most.
This work is about more than photography; it’s about raising voices, sparking conversations, and calling for justice for women who have suffered from violence and femicide.
We want to inspire action and remind the world that we must protect humanity, especially its most vulnerable members.

Let’s come together to end femicide and build a future where all can live a "MAISHA NYORORO" — a peaceful, safe life.

Modern slavery still exists today, but it doesn’t always look like the past. Many victims don’t realize they are trapped.
Sometimes, people are forced to work for very little pay or no pay at all.
They might work in homes, factories, or farms, doing hard labor or just serving their "masters." These people can’t leave, and they don’t have control over their lives. Modern slavery includes forced labor, human trafficking, and debt bo***ge.
We must speak up, raise awareness, and help stop this hidden suffering in our communities. Everyone deserves freedom and dignity.
