My Daughter Has Grown Up Seeing Me As Her First Best Friend, Before Anyone Else.
I have done my best to make it very easy for her to talk to me about anything and everything, I am not quick to judge her or scold her, I don’t shout, I don’t beat, I don’t threaten as much as I used to 🤭😂 and even when she makes a mistake I take my time to understand the situation, thoroughly.
I teach her right from wrong and show her how to genuinely love herself and others. I intentionally made the Effort to get know her friends and built a relationship with them and they come to me for help as they navigate their friendship qualms and I teach them to always show kindness, as it is the way to live and to my surprise this has brought us even closer.
Because children don’t just become who we tell them to be, they become what they experience.
So I choose gentleness, empathy, honesty, and connection.
And seeing who she’s becoming makes every effort worth it.
