Gen Z uprising in Nepal after social media ban.
Nepal’s Parliament has been set on fire after 36 hours of Gen Z led uprising.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has resigned from office amid widespread protests across the country due to the banning of social media in the country. 26 social media platforms were banned including Facebook, X and YouTube.
Protesters also attacked the residence of the country's Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba and injured her. Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel was also beaten by protesters in the street. 22 people have so far died in the protests.
I said after 2024/25 Gen Z protests here in Kenya that that this was not a Kenyan phenomenon but a world wide affair…young people are tired of poor leadership and are resulting to such grievous measures.
