Drama in Court as Cybercrime Officer Admits Report Was 'Doctored' in Maxine Wahome Murder Trial

There was drama today in the ongoing murder trial of rally driver Maxine Wahome, as a cybercrime police detective, Constable Nyende, testified that his forensic report had been tampered with.

Nyende claimed that Corporal Kibei, an investigator on the case, instructed him to "doctor" the findings to include only information favourable to the prosecution.

He further admitted that his report, which lacked official DCI letterheads, was printed at a cyber café, a revelation that drew laughter in the courtroom.

Defense counsel Philip Murgor expressed concern over the prosecution's failure to provide the defense with Nyende's report since March 2024, when Wahome was charged.

The report was only made available to the defense today, raising questions about prosecutorial conduct.

Murgor also pointed out that a separate cybercrime report on the victim Asad Khan's phones had yet to be disclosed.

He indicated plans to report Prosecutor Ogweno to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for withholding critical evidence.

This incident follows earlier revelations that a Government Chemist report, indicating the presence of narcotics in Khan's system, was withheld from the defense for over five months.

The defense argues that such evidence could have influenced the decision to charge Wahome with murder.

The trial is set to continue tomorrow with testimony from Corporal Diana Angote, the investigating officer and the prosecution's final witness.

Suspect in Kasipul MP Charles Were Murder Case Threatens Prosecutor in Courtroom Drama

Tension gripped a courtroom handling the murder case of former Kasipul MP Charles Were after one of the key suspects allegedly issued a death threat against a state prosecutor.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the chilling threat occurred during a court recess while the judge was preparing to give directions on the case.

During the break, the suspect reportedly approached a court officer, asked for the identity of the prosecuting lawyer, and then vowed to kill him for opposing the suspects’ bail application.

“One of the accused persons has threatened to kill the ODPP officer, forcing the state counsel to excuse himself from court,” a statement from the prosecution read.

The threat has raised serious concerns over the safety of court officials involved in high-profile murder cases and may influence the handling of bail decisions moving forward. Security around the case is expected to tighten as the trial continues.
