Children are bold, curious, and concerned about their world. But they need guidance, mentorship, and structured support—and that’s where teachers come in!
At LCMC Igniters, we believe in empowering young people, but we also know that teachers are the bridge that keeps this mission alive. That’s why we hosted a Teachers’ Training with educators from St. Bhakita Primary, Edmund Rice High, Edmund Rice Primary, and Koinonia Community Schools under our Rooting for Children's Ecological Rights project.
A project’s success isn’t about how long it runs it’s about how well the next generation carries it forward. And with empowered teachers, the future is in good hands!

At LCMC, we believe every child deserves a clean, safe, and healthy environment to grow and thrive! reminds us how urgent it is to protect children from environmental harm. Today, we teamed up with the Nairobi County Government, DKA Austria, amazing NGOs, and the kids from St. Bhakita Mukuru for a powerful cleanup at Mukuru dumpsite. The goal? Help the children see firsthand what pollution looks like and how they can be part of the solution.

The recent environmental advocacy event hosted by the Loyola Centre for Media and Communications (LCMC) showcased the power of youth in driving change. Children from St. Bhakita (Mukuru Promotional Centre) actively participated in cleanup activities and interactive discussions, demonstrating their dedication to creating a cleaner, greener future.

The day began with a heartfelt prayer led by His Lordship Bishop Stephan Turnovszky, who officially launched the advocacy campaign. Though the bishop had to leave early due to health reasons, his blessing set the tone for a day of impactful activities. The children engaged in a lively session with Austrian donors, exchanging stories about their experiences at home, school, and in their communities. Through games and open discussions, they discovered shared struggles and aspirations, fostering a sense of global solidarity.

Guided by Mr. Stanley Didi from Nairobi Recyclers, the children learned about sustainable waste management through hands-on activities at the Mukuru dumpsite. They eagerly participated in waste segregation, recycling, and cleanup efforts along Likoni Road, embodying the spirit of environmental stewardship. By leading these activities, the children proved that their voices and actions are essential for building a sustainable future.
