One thing I wish more artists understood is this:

Your audience is not only buying art. They’re buying emotion, connection, and meaning.
That’s why two artists with similar skill levels can have completely different results financially.

Graduation is one of those memories that shouldn't be forgotten. Well.. she didn't have a clear graduation photo, so we found a way to come up with one. Though it happened years ago, this is a milestone worth remembering. Congratulations!

The difficult truth is: making art and making a living from art are related, but separate skills.

Many working artists eventually survive not through a single breakthrough, but through combinations of commissions, teaching, freelance work, licensing, day jobs etc.

For most, sustainable artistic income looks less like sudden fame and more like building a resilient ecosystem around their work over many years. So I leave you with this question, is it worth it?

I don’t want you to quit art...

And I genuinely want your creative career to succeed.

So let me be honest with you guys for a moment…
Let’s think about how real businesses operate.
Successful businesses don’t survive on talent alone.

They have systems.

They market themselves.

They build strong branding.

They engage with customers consistently.

They invest in visibility and growth.

Now look at your art career.

You call it a business… but are you truly treating it like one?

And I’m not talking about the effort you put into improving your drawing skills. I know many artists work extremely hard on that side.

But answer this honestly:
If you were selling another product or service with the same energy, strategy, and resources you currently apply to your art business… would it actually grow?

That question changed my perspective.
Many of us are so focused on becoming better artists that we forget something important:

A successful art career is still a business.

And businesses grow through:
marketing, communication, visibility, branding, networking, and systems.

Not skill alone.

Research on creative careers even shows that many talented artists struggle financially, not because their work lacks quality, but because they never learned how to position themselves and attract opportunities consistently.

So if you truly want art to become a business, then start investing in it like one.

Not just in art materials and tools.

Invest in:
- Better branding,
- Marketing,
- Client outreach,
- Presentation,
- and building visibility around your work.

Because sometimes the difference between a struggling artist and a thriving artist is not talent…
It’s strategy.

That’s all for today!
