Telling our development story at Kilifi County Government

What does public communication really entail?

It is about informing, creating awareness, facilitating meaningful public participation, and ensuring that citizens have access to accurate information so they can engage with government, participate in decision-making, and hold leaders accountable, not on the basis of rumours or perceptions, but on facts.

As we enter the campaign season, a lot will be said. Propaganda will intensify, emotions will run high, and fake news and misinformation will circulate.

My appeal to the public is simple: cut through the noise and look at the facts.

Understand the different arms and levels of government. Know the mandates of county governments, Parliament and the Judiciary. Understand the roles of the President, Governor, Senator, Member of Parliament and MCA.

When you understand these mandates, you have a factual basis on which to measure performance, ask the right questions, hold leaders accountable, and make informed decisions at the ballot.

An informed citizen is an empowered citizen.

Beyond our beautiful coastline, Kilifi is a county on a journey of transformation, and healthcare is at the heart of that journey.

Today, Kilifi stands among the counties leading in the procurement of medicines through KEMSA.

This is more than a statistic; it is a demonstration of our commitment to ensuring that our health facilities are adequately stocked and that our people can access essential medicines and quality healthcare when they need it.

Healthcare was one of the key priorities in H.E Governor Gideon Maitha Mung'aro manifesto. Since taking office, his administration has made deliberate investments to transform healthcare across the county, from modernising health infrastructure and equipment to strengthening the availability of essential medicines and medical supplies.

Transformation is not always about grand projects. Sometimes, it is about getting the basics right, consistently and sustainably, so that every health facility can serve its community effectively.

This is part of Kilifi’s emerging story: a story of intentional leadership, strategic investment and a commitment to improving the lives of our people.

There is more to Kilifi. And we are determined to tell that story through the transformation we are delivering.
