UPDATE:President William Ruto has assented to three key bills today; the Coffee, Meteorology, and Miscellaneous Levies (Amendment) Bills.

Here are detaills:

1. Coffee (Amendment) Bill: Reforms the coffee sector by improving farmer returns, reducing middlemen exploitation, enhancing market access, and promoting value addition through updated governance and marketing rules.

2. Meteorology Bill: Establishes a modern regulatory framework to strengthen the Kenya Meteorological Department’s role in weather forecasting, climate monitoring, data management, and disaster risk reduction.

3. Miscellaneous Fees and Amendment Act: Establishes a Railway Levy Development Fund, a board to manage the fund, and expands the scope of the funds that are collected under the Railway Development Levy to be used in the construction and expansion of the railway network.
