eKitabu Accessible digital content for inclusive and quality education

For eKitabu (“Kitabu” is Swahili for “book,” Kitab or کتاب in Arabic, Kitab or कताब in Hindi), the educational impact of books is our foundation, and on that proven foundation we innovate—to lower the cost of books for education and increase access to them—sustainably and at large scale. eKitabu, through our open architecture, global repository of ebooks, and ecosystem partners, dramatically lower

s the cost of delivering books for education in local and international languages. To date we have brought digital content to over 900 schools across Sub-Saharan Africa: Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Ghana. eKitabu has over 500,000 titles collected from educational publishers worldwide including books in Swahili, Arabic, Kinyarwanda and others approved for national curricula, with a growing list of languages and titles that scales to support new projects and countries where we work. The e-library is accessible globally and built to meet the highest standards for storage, security, delivery, and reporting for content creators—from independent local authors to the world’s largest publishers.

An intimate afternoon well spent celebrating "Born at the End of the World" by Donica Merhazion.

An epic story of courage, love, resilience, and sacrifice, the novel takes us deep into 1970s Ethiopia and Eritrea, where ordinary people face extraordinary choices. Based on real events and rich historical struggle, it follows Elen and Girmai as they navigate love, resistance, and the fight for freedom.

From thoughtful conversations and a heartfelt book talk to engaging questions and a warm signing session, today’s gathering was a meaningful celebration of story, history, and community. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it special.

teaching isn’t a —it’s a right! 🌟

Last week, we celebrated educators who show up with passion, purpose, and heart at our Professional Development session. Classrooms are diverse, and our teaching must be too!

We’re equipping teachers with the power of accessibility, creativity, and technology to reach every single learner—including those who are deaf, hard of hearing, and those who simply differently.

Welcome to the eKitabu Teachers Connect! Let’s grow together, one learner at a time.

Under the theme “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress,” we invite you to join our Digital StoryTime.

Because every child deserves stories that celebrate them, echo their dreams, and affirm their dignity. In a world full of endless pages, inclusion becomes more than a word — it becomes belonging.

Four days. Dozens of young innovators. One mission: building the future with Al and robotics.

Last week, Microsoft Africa Development Center, eKitabu, and ChipuRobo Center hosted an intensive Al & Robotics Bootcamp where learners explored the full journey from plastic to product-turning waste PET into functional filament, wiring full electronic systems, assembling hardware, and finally showcasing real working prototypes.
From sustainability and circuitry to logic design and debugging, participants gained hands-on experience and the confidence to build, test, and present their own tech solutions.

Hear from teachers and a trainer as they share their experiences, the program's benefits to learners, and their hopes for the future.
