Murang’a Seal goalkeeper Austin Omondi says he remain unshaken despite his late omission from the Kenya U20 squad.

“I accepted the omission because I saw it as a step for me. To my fans they may see it as a disappointment, but to me, the first day I got a call up to the national team I knew this is something I can do,” he told Mozzart Sport.

“When I was going, I never knew I could be part of the 25-man squad. I found established keepers there, but I pushed myself. Even when the final list was being mentioned, I was really surprised to be part of it.

“But now as things go on, I have discovered that the more I work, the more things become easier for me, and I will continue the same way," the former MOFA FC custodian added.

The 19-year-old was among the players called up by Kenya U20 head coach Gilbert Selebwa ahead of the CECAFA U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in Tanzania but was reportedly ommitted from the final squad because he did not have a valid passport.

Harambee Stars winger Job Ochieng has revealed how facing Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu gave him a major confidence boost as he continues his rise at Real Sociedad.

Speaking in an interview with Basque publication El Diario Vasco, the 23-year-old admitted that sharing the pitch with elite talents like Kylian Mbappé served as a definitive wake-up call early in his first-team journey.

"I started the pre-season a bit slowly, but after the match at the Santiago Bernabéu, I started gaining confidence. Besides running and scoring goals, what I want most is to help the team win," he said as quoted by Pulse Sports.

| Harambee Stars winger Job Ochieng says his journey is just getting started and wants to maintain consistency in La Liga despite his Man of the Match Performance for La Real on Monday night.

"Now it's time to continue and work," he said.

The 23-year-old delivered a goal and two assists to guide Real Sociedad to a dramatic win away to Elche.

It was Ochieng’s first-ever goal in La Liga as he became only the second Kenyan to score in the Spanish top flight after Michael Olunga, who netted for Girona in January 2018.

Tusker FC captain Abud Omar says delayed FKF Premier League resumption due to continuous court battles makes the local competition valueless and disrespected.

“The federation needs to find a solution as soon as possible because many people are suffering, but most importantly, it makes our league disrespected.

Such happenings are the things that make people disrespect our league. The current situation scares away even sponsors,” Abud stated as quoted by Mozzart Sport.

AFC Leopards chairman Boniface Ambani relates Gor Mahia’s recent 2-0 defeat against Egyptian side Pyramids FC in the CAF Champions League preliminary round with lack of competitive football in the country, warns Harambee Stars boss Benni McCarthy of the same consequence ahead of AFCON 2027 qualifiers later this month.

"Yeah, it's a big problem. Because, you know, when you are taking these players to AFCON, they must be prepared. I just watched the Gor Mahia match yesterday against Pyramids. I'm trying to think: if Gor Mahia played around three or four matches in the Premier League, I don't think they could have had a hard time with the Pyramids guys," he told NTV's Spot On as captured by Pulse Sports.

"I looked at the second half; they came up storming. So what does that show you? It shows you this is a team that has been lacking playing time."

Ambani, added that Benni McCarthy and his technical bench risks selection gambles due to lack of functional domestic league.

"So, to me, it's affecting the team, the national team. It's affecting these teams that are playing in the local league. Because I'm expecting that by the time Gor Mahia are supposed to go and play Pyramids, they should have played again. The national team is here. You don't even know now. Even McCarthy himself doesn't even know which players are fit."

Real Sociedad coach Pellegrino Matarazzo has praised Harambee Stars forward Job Ochieng following his Man of the Match performance against Elche on Monday.

“Job is a very interesting athletic physical profile,” Matarazzo told the media after the game as shared by Pulse Sports.

“He is not just fast and can run 35km, he can repeat that very often in a match. He has very good endurance.”

“He is someone who understands what we need. He understands his strengths and I feel he used it very well today until the end of the match,” he added.

US-based goalkeeper, Mateo Buyu, has expressed a strong desire to represent the Kenyan national team, Harambee Stars.

"I want to play for my country," Buyu stated, as quoted by The Star.

"I think it would be sick to play in the World Cup or the Olympics."

The 21-year-old has steadily progressed through the competitive youth and collegiate ranks in the United States.

Buyu's connection to Kenya comes through his father, Chris Buyu, who emigrated from Africa to the US and played Division Three soccer at Clark University.
