2004 – 2008
Targeter Educational Publishers was founded back in the year 2004 by it’s current director Peter Kinyanjui Kiarie. Its operations were confined to the humble beginnings of a small office within the Nairobi Town CBD. Within this period, Targeter Educational Publishers had only one product, Primary School Exams.
2009 – 2013
Most of the company growth was experienced within this period. It is in the year 2009 that Targeter Educational Publishers ventured into book publishing. Despite the fact that the Kenyan market was already flooded with similar products, the director did not shy away from competition. Instead, he contacted an intensive and comprehensive market research that involved both teachers and learners. By the time Targeter Educational Publishers released the first book in the market, the director knew exactly which loopholes and gaps in the learning experience the book was going to fill. The Targeter Series of books for primary schools was therefore born and has grown tremendously in less than five years. By the end of the year 2013, the company had already accomplished its mission for primary schools by ensuring that it had a product in the market for every examinable subject or paper in primary schools. Today, Targeter Educational Publishers has 32 distinct textbooks in the market, ranging from those meant for Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) to Standard Eight. In 2014, the company will push this number to 50 due to emerging market needs.
2014
Targeter Educational Publishers began this year with new things. The launch of a new product, tailored for Secondary schools, has taken the company to a whole new level. The company has and will continue to publish the new line of books, Targeter Series Secondary Revision Books, until all examinable subjects and papers in the Secondary School are covered. This will reflect the company’s trend set with Primary School products. All our products are published by Targeter Educational Publishers Ltd but printed by Targeter Printing Press, our sister company whose mandate is just printing.
