What an incredible gathering! ✨

Media Pros Africa joined a vibrant community of creatives, cultural leaders, and diplomats at the Akuna Group Forum in partnership with Kenya Film Commission.

From powerful speeches (shoutout to H.E. Alexander McDonald for teaching us “Creek? Crack!”, to thought-provoking panel discussions, and a screening of Idris Elba's Heads of State. This was one for the books. 🎬

This forum reminded us just how powerful our stories are when shared across borders and we look forward to more African-Caribbean collaborations! 🌍🌴

We’re proud to share that our CEO, Wangeci Mūrage, took part in a heartfelt conversation on Dadas Show on KBC, alongside esteemed filmmakers Njoki Muhohoo and Wakio Mzenge.

Hosted by the gracious Ashiko Mbune, the episode focused on Women in Film, a movement that brings visibility to the lived experiences of women in film and TV.

Last week, Nairobi was the backdrop for something special. The Justice for Nature event by WildlifeDirect premiered five powerful conservation films funded by the Whitley Fund for Nature, a celebration of African storytelling and environmental justice.

The event drew over 200 people from students to policy leaders, creatives to conservationists, all rallying around the power of films, which included A Tale of Mt. Kenya Forest by Lorna Wambui, Asante Nyuki by Pauline Kyalo, Vulture Guardians by Kiki Ngok, Coral Keeper by Albert Nyakundi, and Nyoka Mpenzi by Thige Njuguna.

The films will be hosted on the newly launched www.mazingira911.org, a citizen reporting platform for environmental crime, turning storytelling into action.

Reflecting on the incredible experience that was Environment Wildlife Filmmakers (NEWF 2025) in KwaZulu easily as it is one of the most impactful and well-curated events we have had the pleasure to attend.

Grateful to have connected with passionate storytellers, conservationists, funders, and future collaborators. The work being done across the continent, and beyond, to elevate authentic narratives and champion our wild spaces is nothing short of phenomenal.

A heartfelt thank you to Noel Kok and Vera-Cruz for leading with such excellence and vision. The event was professionally executed, deeply enriching — and yes, also a lot of fun! From thought-provoking keynotes to meaningful networking, idea-sharing to real opportunities, every element was intentional and inspiring.

And let’s not forget the magic outside the conference too — from game drives to birdwatching, snorkelling to deep sea diving, the moments spent in nature made it all the more wholesome and unforgettable.
