Liverpool star Diogo Jota tragically dies in car crash

The football world is in mourning after Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota, 28, was killed in a car accident in northwestern Spain early Thursday morning.

Jota, who had married just 10 days ago and leaves behind three children, died alongside his brother Andre Felipe on the Rias Bajas Highway (A-52) near Palacios de Sanabria. Spanish authorities report the crash occurred around 12:30 am after a suspected tyre burst, causing their vehicle to leave the road and catch fire.

In a statement, the Guardia Civil confirmed preliminary identification of both victims and expressed their condolences to the families.

Jota was widely admired for his dynamic attacking play and his contribution to Liverpool’s recent successes, as well as his performances for Portugal on the international stage.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, teammates, and supporters across the world at this incredibly difficult time.

BREAKING: DEPUTY INSPECTOR GENERAL STEPS ASIDE 🚨

In a dramatic turn of events, the Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Eliud K. Lagat, has officially stepped aside from office pending investigations into the tragic murder of blogger Alfred Ojwang

In his statement dated 16th June 2025, DIG Lagat stated:

> “In view of the ongoing investigations on the unfortunate incident of the death of Mr. Albert Ojwang, I have today opted to step aside... I undertake to provide any support required during the investigations.”

The move comes amid growing public pressure and nationwide outrage over the killing, widely believed to involve rogue elements within the security forces.
