Rwanda has severed diplomatic ties with Belgium, accusing the European nation of “consistently undermining” Rwanda amid the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Belgium has been at the forefront of calls for European nations to impose sanctions on Rwanda for allegedly supporting the M23 rebel group, which is central to DR Congo’s crisis.

The South Sudanese government has denied claims by Uganda's army chief, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, that Uganda deployed special forces in Juba to protect President Salva Kiir’s government. South Sudan’s government spokesperson, Michael Makuei, stated that there are no Ugandan forces in Juba and that the capital remains calm despite political tensions. The denial follows recent clashes in Nasir, where an armed youth group linked to First Vice-President Riek Machar seized a town and killed dozens of soldiers. Gen Kainerugaba, known for making controversial statements on social media, had earlier announced that Ugandan troops entered Juba to "secure" the city, a claim the South Sudanese government firmly rejected.
