On the morning of 15 October 2025, Kenya and the continent at large lost one of its most formidable champions of democracy and human rights. Raila Amolo Odinga, born 7 January 1945, passed away at the age of 80 while receiving medical care in Kochi, India. Reports say he collapsed during a morning walk and was later declared dead in hospital following a cardiac arrest.
