The KUSF Men’s Football final between defending champions Kenyatta University (KU) Hard Nuts and hosts University of Eldoret(UOE) ended prematurely after crowd trouble forced match officials to abandon the game.
The incident occurred in the 60th minute when fans invaded the pitch moments after UOE scored the equaliser.
The invasion disrupted play and left match officials with no option but to call off the contest, as KU players and referees were escorted off the field for safety reasons.
KU had taken the lead in the 30th minute of the first half, with captain Austin Tandasi finding the back of the net as the Hard Nuts pushed for a record fifth consecutive title.
However, the hosts drew level through Peter Ouma, a goal that sparked celebrations which quickly escalated into a pitch invasion.
Despite the abandonment, Kenyatta University were later crowned champions, securing their 10th KUSF men’s football title overall
