Welcome to Fundraising Fridays. We envision it as a hangout space where you can slowly work on building your registered but inert organization, work on projects you have procrastinated on for a long time, meet with people to collaborate on initiatives with, brainstorm on and receive feedback on grant applications, explore additional ways of raising capital, get tutoring on how to respond to an upcoming job interview, and receive coaching on your business if needed.

As the host (hostess with the mostest) my personal interests revolve around women in politics, social justice, media and communications, social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and the arts (writing, poetry, film), and so the opportunities we shall be sharing in the first session tomorrow will heavily revolve around these. It’s been 10 weeks of the masterclass series, and it has been an honor to share with you cutting edge thinkers, thoughts and ideas, to take discourse and living practice to new levels. This Saturday we are joined by non-other than the beguiling and bodacious Dr. Harriet Scott PhD. A lady, a queen, a goddess. Her PhD in Religious Studies saw her explore esoteric knowledge on African spirituality and feminine archetypes; vital wisdom that women as a collective have suffered from lacking access to.

Harriet Scott KE will take us through practices to help us to reconnect and find freedom in our sexuality and desires, rather than living as victim of them. Canadian entrepreneur and mystic David Samuel is in town and it would have been criminal to not have him on the masterclass. A self-made millionaire by 25, he fulfilled his childhood dream of retiring at 28, was a monk for 7 years, travelled to more than 100 countries, and set up 20 companies in 15 countries. Cognizant of the Robin Sharma vibes he gives off, he humorously says that he is not the monk that sold his Ferrari but the monk that gave away his airplane, having gifted his RV4 to a friend who knew how to fly but did not have one.

Now in his late fifties, David who has owned businesses in the niches of retail, manufacturing, nuclear waste remediation, and alternate cancer cures, currently teaches techniques on emotional freedom. In line with our March Women’s month theme ‘Allowing Orgasm’, we are honored to have him speak on how to release emotional blocks to live a high quality life. Erotic energy is fierce, ferocious, feral. Unapologetic, unabashed, uninhibited - shameless. Unhealthy societies live in terror of the erotic instinct in women, dampening down and suppressing it in the socialization process. While this may have initially been well meaning (to maintain social order), it leads to the normalization of powerlessness in women, alongside an inability to set up boundaries and have standards. A woman out of touch with her sexual instincts and desires, is also a woman out of touch with her self-protective (will-to-power) instinct. You cannot disable one without affecting the other.

Tomorrow (Saturday 2nd March) Poet and S*x Guide Eudiah Kamonjo leads us through getting back in touch with, and reactivating our erotic feminine energy. Erotic energy, aka libido, moves the world. Depression and powerlessness is what results when libido is blocked, rendering us listless, apathetic, frozen, in victimhood, in limbo, in survival mode.

How about living life fully aroused, fully wet, fully hard, fully turned on, where your desires are so compelling and magnetizing that wild horses cannot keep you away from them? How about living a life filled with depth, feeling, solidness, groundedness and power, because you have finally found Home in yourself and are no longer looking for it in unworthy others? How about living your life proactively, in marked pursuit of your dreams rather than living in shame, guilt and reactivity, based on bad choices of the past? It’s time to meet your inner ferocious, and claim the gifts she has been holding for you all this time.

By the time one gets to 40, life has beaten them up, thrashed them around, slapped them silly, taken them through the spin drier. The unfortunate and residual effect of this is the acquiring of an inner loathing of the self and life, for having gone through the experience. Rather than have compassion on ourselves, we fall into patterns of self hate and self harm, misguidedly believing that if we make our lives hell, the world will not come after us to 'punish' us again.

The fascinating thing is that there was no punishment in the first place. It was simply the breaking up of our outer shell, to allow our true essence to flow. Without this realization, one remains stuck in pain, suffering, bitterness, self pity and self loathing. It may not be apparent to the individual but just as much as a wound on the arm untreated eventually gathers pus and starts to stink, unhealed soul wounds come with their own noxious stench that make us repulsive to others.

This weekend as part of the February relationship series, we provide space, process and ritual for forgiveness. Forgiveness for ourselves, forgiveness for life, forgiveness for others, even, forgiveness for God. We call on those carrying baggage, trauma wounds and hatred against themselves, the world, or others, to join us in finally laying those demons to rest.

The amazing Elly Ubuntu Farmer facilitates this particular session, and we are thrilled to the bone. He has walked his own journey of forgiveness and has a testimony to share. Where performance and appearance are the be-all end-all, truth and authenticity suffer. Spectacle, nice as it may be to look at, comes with the unintended consequence of sucking all oxygen out of the room, leaving everyone lethargic, listless, apathetic, cynical, frustrated, angry. The crisis of meaning of this age is not necessarily a bad thing. It forces us to go back to the basics. To ask us who we are, want we want, what really matters to, outside of what culture, peer groups, advertising and mass media tell us.

This Saturday the 17th of February, we explore what ‘beingness’ looks and feels like in relationships, a fresh and much needed replacement from the current polluted model. This topic will be of interest to single and married people of all ages, particularly those discontent with existing models and in search of new ways to relate. Join us in this exploration of a brave new world.
