Stepping Up for Kariti Ward: A Historic Voice for the Youth! 🗳️
Hello family, colleagues, and the great youth of Kariti Ward,
My name is Wendy Omanga, and it is with great humility and determination that I officially announce my candidacy for the National Youth Council (NYC) representative for Kariti Ward in the upcoming July elections!
This is not just an election; it’s a historic milestone. For the first time in 14 years, the Government of Kenya is reactivating the NYC, giving young people aged 18 to 35 a direct seat at the table to influence policy, promote youth employment, and champion our inclusion in governance and national development.
Why Me? Why Now?
As a Political Science graduate from the University of Nairobi, an award-winning climate journalist (CNN Academy Alum), and the Founder of the Moonlight Initiative, my life’s work has been about advocacy and service. From winning Miss Jungle Kenya to being recognized as a UN FAO Forest Carbon Champion, I have always used my voice to champion our generation and our environment.
I’m running because the youth of Kariti deserve a leader who understands the challenges we face—unemployment, climate change, and a lack of opportunities—and is ready to work tirelessly to build bridges between our ward, the government, the private sector, and civil society so that our voices are not just heard, but acted upon.
What’s the Roadmap?
The ward-level elections kick off on July 5, 2026, where Kariti will elect 6 delegates (3 men and 3 women) to represent us at the constituency level.
I am ready to serve; I am ready to lead. Let’s make history together, team.
