AUDITOR-GENERAL REPORT: EQUALISATION FUND MISUSE? 🚨

The latest Auditor-General’s report (2023/2024) has raised serious red flags in the Equalisation Fund under the National Treasury (Vote 1071). Out of Kshs.156 million meant for improving services in marginalized areas, several transfers to government ministries were not supported, meaning there is no proper proof that the money was used correctly.

🔹 Baricho Water Project (Mombasa)
Kshs.16M was transferred, but only Kshs.2.4M worth of work was certified. Over Kshs.13.6M has no supporting documentation.

🔹 Lungalunga Boreholes (Kwale)
Kshs.9M was transferred even though the project had already been fully paid for earlier. This extra transfer is unsupported.

🔹 Madhalibah Water Pan (Wajir South)
Kshs.5.6M was transferred despite the project being completed and fully paid. Again, no justification for the extra funds.

💡 Bottom line:
The Auditor-General could not confirm the accuracy or validity of the entire Kshs.156 million transferred. This is money meant to uplift marginalized communities — yet accountability is still a problem.

🇰🇪 If we used public funds properly, Kenya would already be like Singapore.
We have the resources. What we lack is discipline, transparency, and accountability.
