Sherman Teen and Recent Tom Bean High School Graduate Makynna Tumlinson Killed in Fatal SH-11 Rear-End Crash Involving Truck Near Luella
A tragic two-vehicle accident claimed the life of 18-year-old Makynna Eden Tumlinson of Sherman on Wednesday afternoon. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 3:44 p.m. in the northbound lanes of State Highway 11 near McGraw Lane, just north of Luella.
Investigators stated that Tumlinson was driving a Chevrolet Cruze when her vehicle rear-ended a 2007 International truck. Tumlinson was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, 37-year-old Hector Ivan Mejia Garcia, was transported to a local hospital with suspected minor injuries.
Tumlinson was a recent graduate and student at Tom Bean High School. Following the devastating news, the school district canceled all activities for Thursday and hosted a remembrance gathering in the high school gym, providing local pastors, administrators, and counselors to support grieving students. The Texas DPS confirms the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
