Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) is back to normal after a temporary shutdown earlier today, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) confirmed.

Travellers affected are urged to contact their airlines for updates. KAA thanked passengers, staff, and the public for their cooperation.

> “We remain committed to maintaining safe, secure, and efficient airport operations at JKIA,” said Dr Mohamud Gedi, Acting MD and CEO of KAA.

The closure followed a security incident during the arrival of the late Raila Odinga’s body from India. Crowds breached restricted zones, prompting a safety shutdown.

A NOTAM was issued, and operations resumed within two hours after security checks.

Supporters, including boda boda riders, overwhelmed barriers, chanting “Jowie” as Raila’s casket arrived. Order was later restored, and the procession continued to Lee Funeral Home via Mombasa Road for public viewing at Parliament.
