A Nation in Waiting
In the heat of the sun and dust of the street,
Where promises rise but rarely meet,
Voices echo in matatus and halls,
Of dreams deferred and broken calls.
The system stands, old roots deep,
Where secrets hide and ledgers sleep,
Corruption dances in tailored suits,
While hunger grows at the people’s roots.
Yet in the youth, a fire is born,
Not of anger alone, but a hopeful dawn,
With phones in hand and truth to share,
They challenge silence, they dare to care.
In the short term—speak, resist, unite,
Hold leaders close in the public light,
Vote with wisdom, question loud,
Turn whispers into a fearless crowd.
In the long term—build and learn,
Let discipline and values return,
Enter the system, reshape its core,
Not just protest—but become much more.
And the elders too must take a stand,
Not watch from afar, but lend a hand,
With wisdom earned through years gone by,
Guide the youth, don’t pass them by.
For change is not a single fight,
But many voices, burning bright,
A nation healed when all agree—
To rise, rebuild, and set it free.
No longer should the cycle spin,
Of theft disguised as governing,
Let truth be loud, let justice stay,
And Kenya rise—her rightful way.
