Governor Njuki, MCA Kamunyu Clash in Marimanti Over World Bank Funded Roads, Tax Threats and Municipal Status Plans.

A heated political clash has erupted between Marimanti MCA Kennedy Kamunyu and Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki.

The confrontation occurred during the commissioning of tarmacking roads, modern street lights, and an ablution block in Marimanti town. While MCA Kamunyu thanked the national government and World Bank for financing the project, Governor Njuki countered by asserting that, "There is no elected leader called World Bank," insisting that the projects fall under his administration.

MCA Kamunyu openly challenged the governor, affirming that the people of Marimanti demand development. He warned that if there is no development, residents will withhold taxes. In response, Governor Njuki urged residents to pay taxes and pledged to continue with more development, including additional tarmacked streets, a new bus stop, and elevating Marimanti to a municipal status.

MCAs Plan to Embarrass Governor Njuki Over World Bank Project, Demand Accountability in Tharaka Nithi.

MCAs opposing Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki are reportedly planning to embarrass him today as he commissions the Marimanti modern ablution block and street tarmac project funded by the World Bank.

The MCAs, who previously opposed the Governor’s budget, will be attending the commissioning event at Marimanti accompanied by their allies.

Sources has reveal to Sparks that the Governor has organized for over 300 people from various Tharaka wards to be ferried in to cheer him on, while the MCAs have mobilized their own supporters. The stage is already set for a tense event.

The MCAs are questioning why the Governor is pretending to commission World Bank funded projects while failing to deliver county funded developments in Marimanti, including the Nyangumi Stadium project, which reportedly consumed millions of shillings but remains incomplete and invisible to the public.

Meanwhile, Marimanti MCA Kennedy Kamunyu has reiterated that his ward will not pay taxes if no meaningful development is delivered by the county government.

The state of roads in my ward is very poor. I’m sorry for the challenges. Despite Ksh 1.2 billion allocated last year and this year's budget, nothing has been done. That is why I said my ward will not pay taxes if there is no development ~ Marimanti ward MCA Kennedy Kamunyu, expressing regret after Chuka residents were unable to use vehicles due to the poor road conditions.
