Betty Bayo died as a result of head injuries after allegedly being beaten by her husband, Tash, and not from leukemia as earlier medical reports indicated. This is according to Betty’s mother in the USA, who last night dropped a bombshell during a virtual interview with Shiru Wa Oakland. According to Mama Betty, Tash and Betty had separated three months before the Kikuyu gospel artist’s death, and Tash had reportedly returned to America. In a shocking turn of events, Betty’s mother says she does not understand how Tash managed to return to Kenya within a very short time to check in Betty’s body at Kenyatta Hospital shortly after she was confirmed dead.Why did they separate? The mother claims that Tash had siphoned Betty’s money and used it to purchase two lorries in America, each worth Ksh 8 million. She adds that the final incident involved Tash allegedly beating Betty while drunk and forcing her to give him Ksh 5 million, leaving her daughter broke. Distraught, Betty reportedly called her mother, crying, “Mum, who did you leave me with? I’m not safe. Huyu ataniua.”Before the burial, the family including Tash agreed that Betty’s sisters would take care of the children. However, after the burial, Tash allegedly refused to honour the agreement and told Betty’s mother to go to court if she wanted the children. Besides the children, Tash is also said to be in possession of Betty’s death certificate, her mother’s ID card, and other important documents.Mama Betty also expressed disappointment that Shiru Wa GP the renowned gospel artist and Betty Bayo’s close friend has never picked up her calls since the tragedy, something she says has deeply hurt her.
Betty’s mother praised Prophet Kanyari for being genuine and present for his children, urging him to go to Betty’s house and ensure the kids’ safety, as she believes they are not safe under Tash’s care, Tash who even on the night of the burial, brought other women into the home and made merry in Betty’s matrimonial bed.
