DCI Issues Update on Death of Hon. Cyrus Jirongo

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has released a further update on investigations into the death of Hon. Cyrus Jirongo, which occurred on the night of 13th December 2025 at Karai area along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway.

According to the DCI, a multi-agency investigative team comprising homicide detectives, forensic experts, and intelligence officers was deployed immediately after the incident. The team processed the scene, secured exhibits, reviewed CCTV footage from Eagol Petrol Station, analyzed bus records, and examined amateur videos from the scene.
Statements were recorded from key witnesses, including the deceased’s wife, the bus driver and conductor, petrol station staff, several passengers, and individuals who last interacted with Hon. Jirongo on the evening before his death.
Based on evidence gathered so far, the DCI says the incident appears to be a road traffic accident, with no indications of foul play. Upon completion of investigations, the file will be forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for further action, including possible charges against the PSV driver.

The DCI has extended its condolences to the family and urged the public and leaders to avoid speculation, assuring Kenyans of impartial, thorough, and expeditious investigations in line with the law.
