When you need services in any governmental office in Kenya — be bold, confident and straightforward. Don’t mince your words. Say as it is. Otherwise, those rascals will bully you.

Those traits helped me a lot. Mimi i used to get into serkal offices na vurugu.

For instance, when i was doing biometrics for my passport, it was chaotic. I and the attended almost went into a fist fight.

The guy, a fellow Somali from the backwaters of Masalani in Garissa, wanted to harass me, demanding for documents that are not required. I stood on my ground. I told him off. He thought i was gullible and uninformed.

We exchanged words. It was to turn messy. I reminded him of his roles as a ng’ombe ya serikali. I was almost arrested; the other officers intervened and took me to a room. I had put back my papers in the envelope and told them that Kenyan passport is not a DO or DIE thing, and that i can forgo and take several other passports. We negotiated and later a different officer was assigned to work for me.

Had it not me denying to kowtow to his harassment, that bu**er could have asked for a circumcision certificate. My guy Sadam Mohamed was with me that day.

While savoring Mama Nadhifa’s tea at Eastleigh’s Shah Macaan, you eavesdrop on a chit-chat & it goes;

“Waryaa ninki Kholosh ahaay waa strong ogow. Wajeer West hadas hundred percent kahela, oo Fai laba ama seddax kusoo istaagan, kursiga asugaa leh.”

As you are wrapping your head around that statement, you stretch your ear a little distance and it catches;

“Niyow gabadhan Mumen Rep usoo istagtay caadhi ma’aha. Mala qabaa horta?” Asks Abdiaziz Amoore as he zooms in the lady’s picture on his phone.

A man dies after he fell from an apartment in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

The man, alleged to be a thief, snatched a phone from a female resident of the apartment. In a bid to escape and disappear from the lady, he fell from the thirteenth floor, and succumbed to serious head injury.
